Claire Rozario

Welcome to the Justin Wayne Show’s Free Music Feature blog, written by our own Claire Rozario! She features one new free track each week on the blog that’s hot, sweet and ready for your ears.

If you are currently offering a free song and would like Claire to consider it for her blog, contact her via email: claire (at) thejustinwayneshow (dot) com. Please include:

  • A short description of your track and you (band, artist, or dog-and-pony show)
  • A link to the site where it’s streamable, embeddable and downloadable – Bandcamp or Soundcloud are good options.
  • Reason WHY she should include it.

If you’re a reader – that’s ACE and welcome. Let me know if you find anything that should be on this blog too!

Posted by on Aug 21, 2015 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Steamroller by Steve Benjamins – Free Music Feature MP3

“Steamroller” by Steve Benjamins is our free music feature this Friday. Like what you hear? Well, I should tell you that his new album is called Disorientation Man and you can also download the whole thing for free on his website, if this track just wasn’t enough.

Steve Benjamins makes downtempo indie pop that feels thoughtful and melancholic. Sightlines is Benjamins 3rd EP in just over two years. Like all his EPs, Benjamins plays almost all of the instruments (piano, guitar, synths, drums, bass) and is the sole songwriter.

Dialled by Esperi – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Aug 14, 2015 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Dialled by Esperi – Free Music Feature MP3

Check out our free feature, “Dialled” by Esperi! I strongly recommend going to watch Esperi live if you get the chance. Such a interesting, complex show created by just him, along with a whole host of musical instruments, sound effects, and every day objects that I can almost guarantee you wouldn’t of seen on stage before. Also, if you like this, do head over to the Top 10 of August 2015 and give him a vote!

Esperi is Scottish multi-instrumentalist Chris James Marr. His music ranges from acoustic storytelling to colourful electronica looping and combining different sounds with his acoustic guitar. He uses a host of instruments from the conventional to the unusual including his signature rainbow-coloured bells, which he plays with his feet! He writes about his home, his dogs and his family.

Download “Black Satin” by Foxy & The Hares now! Our free music feature of the week comes from a new artist to the show, bringing some Dream Pop, Future Pop, Chillwave sounds to our airwaves.

With a love for music and passion to create, Foxy & the Hares take us by storm on a musical adventure. Growing up in musical families, this group were no strangers to playing instruments and writing songs. “I knew I was going to be a singer when I was old enough to walk and talk,” say’s Katie Wallace. “I can still remember swinging on my swing set as a little girl and belting out Disney songs at the top of my lungs. We were a musical family, and my mother always told me to never stop chasing after my dreams and to live life happily.”

Open Sore by Jim From The Moon – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Jul 31, 2015 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Open Sore by Jim From The Moon – Free Music Feature MP3

Check out “Open Sore” by Jim From The Moon. We played a song from Jim on the live show a couple of weeks ago and now he’s back with this bad boy!

At times Jim from the Moon plays acoustic tunes about girls, the devil, and similar distractions. They flow in the vein of Loudon Wainwright III and Neil Young, sung with a voice soaked in years of Irish storytelling. Other times he expels far-out electric rock that is primal and space-ward, with heavy, psychedelic sounds. Both sides are focused, catchy, and ready to be eaten by your ears.

Imaginary Song by Errant Boy – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Jul 24, 2015 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Imaginary Song by Errant Boy – Free Music Feature MP3

“Imaginary Song” by Errant Boy is available for free today! This is his second available track and it’s an most definitely an interesting listen. Thanks to Errant Boy himself for sharing this with us, and for doing so for free.

This song bounces in on an hyperactive bassline, ramps up the hooks, descends into vulnerable remorse and leaves with a renewed buoyancy. Like all serious pop music, that’s a lifetime in three minutes. The line up for this track is Flooze – Fender Bass/ Kurtz– Rickenbacker guitar/ Kirk Wood– drums/Dennis– Nord keyboard/ The Errant Boy– song, voice, cheap guitar. Errant Boy lives and works in the east of Scotland. An album is scheduled for autumn, 2015.

The Ghost is Clear by Exohxo – Free Music Feature EP

Posted by on Jul 17, 2015 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on The Ghost is Clear by Exohxo – Free Music Feature EP

“The Ghost is Clear” EP by Exohxo is your big bad free music feature this week. Justin interviewed these guys on the live show so some of you may have already got your hands on this present, but for those who missed it, grab it now!

Exohxo is a domesticated five-piece chamber rock band from Seattle that spent their teens in orchestras and their twenties in let’s-take-over-the-world touring bands. Now scattered across their thirties with families, jobs, and mortgages, these seemingly well-adjusted and entirely approachable adults appear unwilling to finish growing up if that means surrendering the music and the camaraderie that has always been integral to their happiness. Long after so many of their peers have hung up their instruments and traded the PA for the PTA, this band is doing the best work of their creative careers and giving voice to that thing that happens when once-starving artists begin to save for retirement.

Cutting Corners by The 150 Friends Club – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Jul 10, 2015 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Cutting Corners by The 150 Friends Club – Free Music Feature MP3

“Cutting Corners” by The 150 Friends Club is our free music feature of the week. It’s a cheery tune and finishes up with a whistle – which wins me over every time.

Here’s the story – when the David Goo Variety Band came to its natural conclusion, David Goo wanted to do something different. After reading Dunbar’s theory that society works best in groups of 150 people, he concluded an audience of exactly 150 could be pretty sweet too. Smaller numbers, intimate settings, personal rather than alienating. The 150 Friends Club was born.

Two EPs by The Landing – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Jul 3, 2015 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Two EPs by The Landing – Free Music Feature MP3

This weeks free music feature is a pretty damn exciting one as The Landing have two EPs available for you, for free! “How Strange To Be” and “We Are” are yours for the taking, and don’t let me take the credit, Justin himself was the hot shot who found these. Download yours now and stay tuned for many a track played for you on our live shows.

The Landing is a solo act stemming from an apartment in Brooklyn, New York, but don’t mistake him for just any new artist; he has a purpose to his music, with an aim to demonstrate and assess the struggle of finding one’s place in the universe through a series of genre-bending songs. He labels his music as “space-pop”, he contemplates the essence of life, and he created We Are, a stunning EP that dives into many mind-opening questions about life and humanity as a whole.

Bull By The Horns by Ded Rabbit – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Jun 25, 2015 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Bull By The Horns by Ded Rabbit – Free Music Feature MP3

“Bull By The Horns” by Ded Rabbit is our free music feature this Friday. I’m writing this just after Discovery 2 tonight – which saw these guys whip up a storm! If you couldn’t join us, then have a little taste with this download.

Ded Rabbit are a four piece Alt rock/Indie band consisting of four brothers; Eugene (vocals, rhythm guitar), Fergus (lead guitar), Donal (bass) and Eoin Gaine (drums). Originally from Yorkshire, we moved to the Highlands in 1996 and through the isolation and a developing love of music, we started playing together about ten years ago. After moving to Edinburgh to study, we began taking music more seriously and recently feel we’ve started to find our feet in the studio; working on the last three EP’s in Glasgow with Rocket Science Studios, who have recorded Texas, Belle And Sebastian, Dougie MacLean and many more.
