Blake has been making a name for himself with his unique blend of Aussie Roots music since relocating to Seattle three years ago (and more recently, Tieton WA). He’s been featured on TV shows Band in Seattle, Evening Magazine and New Day Northwest, and performed at numerous music festivals throughout the PNW and beyond. Known for his use of Percussive Guitar, where he hits the body of the guitar like a drum, Blake also plays the ancient Australian Didgeridoo, which is said to mesmerize his audience. Fans of The John Butler Trio and Xavier Rudd will love this high energy four piece.
Playdaze by Bordeauxxx – Free Music Feature MP3
“Playdaze” by Bordeuxxx is their recently released digital album that they are giving away for a price of your choice! Obviously we do encourage you to pay something for this selection of songs but we appreciate the band leaving it in our hands to decide what they deserve for their hard work.
Bordeauxxx are: Amy Bache – Bass and Vocals, Charlie Clement – Guitar and Vocals, Jon Fairey – Drums, Percussion, and Vocals, Joss Holden-Rea – Guitar and Vocals, Martin Lilley – Keyboard and Vocals. All songs were produced by Joe Rubel. They recorded ‘Daydreamer’ at Urchin Studios, London, with the help of Jack Sugden. Drums and Bass for ‘Summer Glow’, ‘Carlton Hill’, and ‘Blush’ were recorded at Ford Lane Studios, West Sussex, by Oli Slack. Guitars recorded by Joe Rubel at Pixel, Tileyard Studios, London, and they did the vocals in Martin’s bedroom wardrobe, East London.

“The Oh Hellos‘ Family Christmas Album” is our Christmas present to you this festive Friday. Thanks goes to Deann from Music For Lunch for bringing this one to our attention!
The Oh Hellos began in a cluttered bedroom, where siblings Maggie and Tyler Heath (born and raised in southern Texas) recorded their self-titled EP in 2011. In the fall of 2012, the sibling duo released their debut full-length record Through the Deep, Dark Valley, an album full of regret and redemption, which they wrote, recorded, produced, mixed, and mastered themselves.

Born in Brooklyn and now rooted in the Bay Area, Big Tree is Kaila McIntyre-Bader (vox, keys), Luke Bace (bass, vox), Dan Pirello (guitar), and Matt Schory (drums). The group creates songs that have been called “anthemic,” “luscious,” and “stunning,” tapping into organic folk, greasy blues, and ambient indie rock. After several years of near constant performing, Big Tree’s live show stands alone in it’s own right, taking the audience on a journey that starts with the bopping of heads and the tugging of heart-strings, and often ends with a sweaty dance party and raucous sing-alongs.

The Alpine Camp is an endeavor that started as a musical challenge and blossomed into a larger obsession. It is music created with absolutely no limitations, except one; the music will be played on roots instruments. The resulting EP achieved this goal and in doing so, inspired Charles and Chris to create it’s namesake band; The Alpine Camp. The group is anchored by the songwriting partnership of Bell and Etienne whose childhood friendship has developed the two into lifelong musical companions.

London-based HAWK have been described as everything from alt-pop to dark folk. Julie, Matt, Chris, and Sam hail from various corners of the UK and Ireland. Lead singer Julie Hawk began collaborating with Matt Harris, as a solo project in 2012. After a year of garnering plaudits on the acoustic scene, the pair joined with Sam and Chris to form HAWK, adding new edge and expansion to their sound, while retaining the detail and delicacy of their acoustic roots.

“The Salt Mine” by Adam Cleaver is your glorious free music feature this week. I had the pleasure of seeing him perform last night at Discovery 2 and am now officially his no.1 fan. For those of you that missed the night, fear not – interviews and live sets coming soon.
Adam Cleaver is a Folk-Alternative singer-songwriter based in London. His sound was described by Wonky Sensitive as “refreshingly unpretentious and movingly poignant”. He worked with Matt Harris (HAWK) on Man or Beast creating a beautiful, organic sound prevalent throughout the EP. Filled with rumbling drum beats, anthemic riffs and Adam’s entrancing vocals, Man or Beast is an enthralling listen from start to finish.
Loved Not Understood by Annique – Free MP3
“Loved Not Understood” by Annique is our brilliant free music feature this Friday. We are over joyed to see a previous contender for our Top 10 going away for free. It’s delightful, which you’ll already know if you voted for it.
Born into a musical family Annique was drawn to her parents’ vinyl collection.
After finishing her GCSE’s she tried various paths but none worked with her as well as The Academy of Contemporary Music. It was to prove a life-changing experience. She graduated with a Higher Diploma in Contemporary Music and soon after, she found herself singing backing vocals on the Gorillaz album ‘Plastic Beach’, appeared live with Mike Skinner and ‘The Streets’ on Jools Holland, the Electric Proms and The South Bank Show, as well as writing and performing in everything from a live drum n bass band to a dub, reggae, electro and soul trio.
Following a chance meeting with producer/multi-instrumentalist Koby Israelite, they decided that the time was right to pursue her dreams of a solo career, and the pair began work on her debut album.

Originally starting out in 2013 as a folk duo, The Floodgates have come along way in 2 years, from playing a private show for Heavyweight Champion David Haye at his personal gym, to having just finished their debut Headline Tour after the success of singles such as ‘God Knows’, ‘You’ and most recently ‘Broken Kite’. Now, after taking some time away to refine their skills further, The Floodgates are in the midst of recording their Debut EP, for a January 2016 release, promising a departure from their initial acoustic sound.

I headed directly the Soundcloud Page to find a selection of tunes waiting for me. I’ve chosen “Deep Dark Blue“ as our feature of the day, however they are many others, so start here and finish there.
Marie Lalá is a pop singer/songwriter from Stockholm, Sweden, signed to Platform of Joy. The band members consists of: Marie Lalá-vocals, Otto Niklasson Elmerås-guitar, Daniel Aldenmark-bass, Staffan Philip Ålander-drums, Olle Hedström-trumpet, Philip Daveby-saxophone, Joel Karlsson – saxophone, Henric Karlsson-percussion.
