  • A short description of your track and you (band, artist, or dog-and-pony show)
  • A link to the site where it’s streamable, embeddable and downloadable – Bandcamp or Soundcloud are good options.
  • Reason WHY she should include it.

Posted by on Jan 30, 2015 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on ‘Alive’ by Kolo – Free Music Feature MP3

‘Alive’ by Kolo is your wicked free music feature this week. I had the absolute pleasure of watching this band at Discovery 2 (keep your eye out for interview and live set coming soon) last night and we’ve been playing their latest release on the live show recently so if you’ve been listening you’ll recognise the fun, pop rock music pouring out of these boys. If not, it’s time to get stuck in.

Kolo
are a three piece pop rock band based in London. Originally from Devon; Jon, Steve and Dan’s epic pop rock anthems have been charming audiences up and down the UK since 2006. Their much anticipated debut album was produced in Nashville by Chris Henderson from 3 Doors Down . ‘Castro’, the first track off the album, ‘Who Wants to Rule the World?’ just came out on January 19th 2015.

Posted by on Jan 16, 2015 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on The Life And Death Of An Oak Tree by Hunter Dumped Us Here – Free Music Feature MP3

“The Life And Death Of An Oak Tree” by Hunter Dumped Us Here is here and ready for you to download for free today. I’m giving Justin a unfair advantage here by choosing another one of his Top 10 tracks as the feature of the week, but alas it’s a great track so I can’t let the competition get the better of me.

Hunter Dumped Us Here started when he was five years old and he recorded a cassette with his dad. Since then he has been a part of numerous recordings and projects. All the instruments and vocals are written and performed by the single artist of the band. In March 2014 Hunter Dumped Us Here release his debut EP ‘Ribcage’, follow by ‘Key’ in June.

Posted by on Jan 9, 2015 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on My Grandfather Could Make the World Dance by Auditorium – Free Music Feature MP3

“My Grandfather Could Make the World Dance” by Auditorium is the free music feature of the week, it’s excellent and extremely unique. Justin has been playing his stuff since the very beginning and this track is currently running in our Top 10 of January 2015.

This is the first release seen from Auditorium in 3 years, copies of past album and EP are available on the Bandcamp page below. You’ll also see a quote from Justin there about the music being produced by Spencer Berger (aka Auditorium) and sums it up perfectly: “The work of an introverted genius…A rich tapestry of heroism, hope and ultimately beautiful music…After five days of listening to it on repeat I’m still not bored.”

“No Sheer Force of Will” by Smokey Brights – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Jan 2, 2015 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on “No Sheer Force of Will” by Smokey Brights – Free Music Feature MP3

“No Sheer Force of Will” by Smokey Brights is the perfect free music feature to welcome you into the New Year. Smokey Brights were our favourite track of the week a few weeks back, so we are delighted to see that they are offering some of their tunes away for free! Justin has also done an interview with Ryan Devlin from the band so if you like this and you’d like to hear more simply click here.

Long Description of the music style is as follows: Warm, vintage, pop savvy, yet slightly wry rock music. The kind that streams from the boombox all day at your uncle’s barbecue, or crackles through the AM radio on an all night drive through some expansive American highway. Debut album, Taste For Blood, available on Bandcamp and iTunes.

Hush by Hawk – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Dec 26, 2014 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Hush by Hawk – Free Music Feature MP3

Hush by HAWK is our free music feature of the week! This is a powerful song that sounds like nothing else you’ve heard recently (unless you’ve been listening to HAWK of course). This band are producing music that is unique, interesting and really makes you listen. If you head over to their website you can check out the video for Hush as well.

HAWK are a London-based noir alt. rock four piece. They have been described as everything from noir-rock to alternative-folk. Based in London, Julie, Matt, Chris, and Sam hail from various corners of the UK and Ireland. Their sound was described by Subba Cultcha as a “fusion of ambience and power” fronted by a “soaring, crackling vocal”. Irish-born lead singer Julie Hawk initially embarked on a solo folk career, and began collaborating with Matt in 2012. After a year on the acoustic circuit, the pair gained support from the likes of Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson. The fledgling duo then joined Sam and Chris to form the band you hear now, adding a new abrasive edge to their sound while retaining the delicacy of their acoustic roots.

Hush was released 8th December, so see this as your final Christmas present to end the festive season. Happy holidays everyone!

A Band is for life not just for Christmas. Kids On Bridges gives us all something to think about just before Xmas with ‘Sport For Kings’ which is a brutally honest and pulsating slab of electronic pop taken from their Top 30 UK Album ‘Kidology’. The band are offering this as their Christmas gift to you all as “a thank you for a great year”. What a lovely thing to do. Kids On Bridges are Discovery 2 alumni and all round wonderful chaps, I encourage you to go see them live if you get the chance.

Kids On Bridges are a Liverpool Electro \ RDM band signed to Wall of Sound record label, made up of the members Christian Bragg, Daniel Rankin and Andrew Culshaw.

Piece of Mind by Elektric – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Dec 12, 2014 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Piece of Mind by Elektric – Free Music Feature MP3

‘Piece of Mind’ by Elektric is this weeks free feature. This is a track from her ‘Sorry I’m Late’ EP, which is actually all available for free just over on her Soundcloud page. We’ve had her music on the live show, in our Top 10 and even as a former free feature, but I can’t emphasis enough how interesting the material she’s putting out there. Here’s to someone doing something different, rapping with important things to say and being a role model for many young girls, trying to figure things out.

A unique sound in a scene full of MCs or singer Elektric’s music is refreshing and original and represents and champions the underground vibe of the Midland’s cool kid scene. Taking influences from all genres of music from reggae, soul and hip hop, to pop rock, indie and most importantly her life, Elektric uses her Music to express what it’s like to be a young, gay, female artist in 21st century Britain.

Christmas Time by Lonna Marie – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Dec 5, 2014 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Christmas Time by Lonna Marie – Free Music Feature MP3

“Christmas Time” by Lonna Marie is your suitably festive free music feature this week! Christmas is all about giving right? We already previewed this on the live show to start December in style, and I think we can all agree that it’s refreshing to hear some new, original festive songs like this one here.

Lonna Marie is a passionate singer songwriter who calls Los Angeles her home. She is originally from Hollywood, Florida, spent her early 20s hustling and thriving in New York city and now has landed on the West Coast, much to her surprise. She began her singer songwriting career in New York city where she established herself as an underground artist and took that a step further and created an organization called Underground Artists Live; a safe haven where artists could perform in a supportive and welcoming environment located in the heart of the LES. Lonna Marie is currently working on expanding her sound and is collaborating with some of the best producers around.

“Go To Me” by Jordan Klassen – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Nov 28, 2014 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on “Go To Me” by Jordan Klassen – Free Music Feature MP3

“Go To Me” by Jordan Klassen is your free music feature today, and let me tell you, it’s good. Jordan was kind enough to submit his new single ‘Firing Squad’ to us last week and since then I haven’t been able to get enough to the boy. His Soundcloud is bubbling with chamber folk-pop music for you to sample, including the one he’s letting you take home for keeps.

Jordan Klassen is a songwriter from Western Canada (Vancouver, Calgary) who quietly released an EP entitled Kindness last year. After steady increases in accolades, radio play and live crowds, Jordan’s new full length Repentance will make a lot more noise. Is there such a thing as unsentimental sincerity? If so, this could be it. A resonate warmth carries Klassen’s crafted, literate lyrics through vivid images and stories. Repentance juxtaposes a multi-textured simplicity with a trembling confidence and a fresh familiarity. Playful and wise, vast and intimate, the album travels from the jubilant in “Go to Me” and “Piano Brother” to the quiet intensity of “The Horses are Stuck” and “Strengthen Me With Raisins.” These are songs that fuse melody and poetry, stinging the imagination and summoning forgotten emotion.
