The Winter Tradition are making everyone’s day by letting us have this lovely track ‘Send The Waves’ for free! Former Discovery 2 alumni released their album back in July 2012 and this is just a taste of what awaits you.

Woolly jumpers, catchy choruses and the tightest live show around. What is there not to like about The Winter Tradition?

This grizzly comforting hybrid from Edinburgh rattle off arena sized stadium hooks so effortlessly, you wonder why every band doesn’t do it. Their atmospheric brand of alternative indie rock is capable of filling any grand edifice in the land and will leave you feeling like you must experience it before they outgrow the local venues they’ve been gracing since the release of their long play debut – Gradients.

This weeks free feature comes from the man of soul Danny Toeman with his funky track ‘I Still Get That Feeling’. I was lucky enough to meet Danny at Discovery 2 earlier this year! So you feel free to go back and check out his live set from the night if you are liking this track as much as I am.

SOUL MAN from London, UK, carving out a niche in this post-post-modern musical landscape, this is a unique brand of home-cooked soul music that defies the typical sub-genre labelling. He has performed as the opening act for Charles Bradley and his Extraordinaires, Incognito, Robert Cray, and Loose Ends.

His digital album ‘Life Blood Soul’ is available now!

Girl by Casitas – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Oct 28, 2013 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Girl by Casitas – Free Music Feature MP3

This weeks free feature is a catchy little number entitled ‘Girl’ brought to you by the Casitas boys. We have always been a fan of this Devon based band here on The Justin Wayne Show and now it seems they are treating us, and their admirers to a lovely selection of free tracks over on their Soundcloud page

Casitas. Grown from the earth, taken from their homes, replanted in strange places, and brought back together. The band has evolved, accepting the influence of the world around them, whilst still holding onto the optimism that sets them apart. 2013, a year when everybody was waiting for the end, is proving to be just the beginning for Casitas.

Their EP ‘Stamen & Stigma’ is available now.

Reflections by Ideals – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Oct 18, 2013 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Reflections by Ideals – Free Music Feature MP3

This weeks wonderful free music feature is brought to you by Ideals with their track ‘Reflections’. I’ve been a fan of this band for a few years now (loyal listeners of the show will know that they have made it to my Top 5 previously), so I really hope you all enjoy this.

Ideals, originally from Ipswich Suffolk, now residing in London, are a new and exciting Indie band. After gaining a small fan base in London the band then went on to play Club fandango, the club night of cult label Fierce Panda. With the success of this show they were then asked to be part of the famous Fierce Panda compilation CD, “Zip it Up”, which sold out on the first day of release.

Ideals then embarked on their first full UK tour, in support of the debut single “Lungs”. Topshop in New York asked for “Lungs” to be put on their in store playlist, gaining a good following from America and drawing attention to the band’s music video on youtube. A sync deal with Shout it Loud music, responsible for the highly successful Avon, American Express and the new Scott Pilgrim video game soundtrack, was then signed.

Meaning you should probably go grab this download whilst you still can.

Give me Lego by Cry Baby Aeroplanes Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Oct 11, 2013 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Give me Lego by Cry Baby Aeroplanes Free Music Feature MP3

This week we have a Cry Baby Aeroplane’s track ‘Give me Lego’ for your listening pleasure. I  was introduced to these boys at IMC & Discovery’s Summer Sizzler earlier this year and I’ve been a keen follower since. There is a selection of free music featured on there soundcloud, but I really enjoyed the anger featured on a song so innocently named..

Cry Baby Aeroplanes are an alternative, indie-grunge band from Lancashire. ‘Barely old enough to buy a lottery ticket, the group combined their love of grunge and stoner rock with a deft sense of style to begin crafting their own set of thumping, raucous hook-laden songs.’

Their Debut E.P ‘Running’s Fun’ is OUT NOW!

Idle Stranger by Miccoli – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Oct 4, 2013 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Idle Stranger by Miccoli – Free Music Feature MP3

I am a huge fan of this track, and of this band! Miccoli’s track ‘Idle Stranger’ is one of those songs that is hauntingly good, and one that I’ve continued to listened to on a regular (almost daily) basis.

The Birmingham band consists of twin brothers, Adriano and Alessandro, along with their sister Francesca. They have toured the US and UK, writing and performing together for the past 4 years. Having worked with legendary producers, they have hung out with Motley Crue, written songs, had an altercation with Paris Hilton in a toilet, been cautioned by the highway patrol, written more songs and learnt a great deal about producing their own music. What is more, they have performed at the O2 Wireless festival, written even more songs, lived in their car equipped with a mobile bar and cooker built by themselves and had one of the members of the band suffer a near fatal heart operation. They have turned down a gig for Kevin Costner, moved to Penang and landed a sponsorship deal, shot their debut video, written even more songs, performed more gigs and that is just the half of it.

I had the pleasure of meeting the band last year at Discovery 2, we had a lovely, light-heartened chat before I was completely blown away with their performance.

Ian by Tom Rosenthal – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Sep 27, 2013 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Ian by Tom Rosenthal – Free Music Feature MP3

Tom Rosenthal’s biography simply states: “Tom is a person who writes songs”, which we can see is no word of a lie. This months free music feature lends itself to his new single ‘Ian’. This track was brought to me by faithful friend and PR guru David Hillier, and I think you’ll agree that it is a beautiful number that only makes you want to hear more from Tom as the song goes on.

When asked the singer/songwriter described the song as so: “It’s a simple song related to real life happenings. It’s associated with the idea of things being broken before they break, or more to the point, things dying before they’re dead. But, fundamentally, it’s just a short song about a man called ‘Ian’.”

Tom has published over 100 songs, and composed songs and music for Skins, Oprah, Masterchef , NCIS, Bones, Hollyoaks and more.

He will be self-releasing Who’s That In The Fog? on 28th October.

I’m loving this track ‘Home Sweet Home’ by Sample Answer. I was lucky enough to meet this chap at last months Discovery 2 where he entertained the crowd with his lovely acoustic tracks and cheeky chat. Check out our podcast of the night to hear more!

Sample Answer is a solo act who goes by the name Maurice O’Connor in the real world. He is an 18 year old acoustic/indie/urban solo project originally from Dublin, Ireland but now living in London. Rising very quickly through the London music scene, his unique style of, creating hip hop inspired beats on the body of his guitar combined with a passionate flamenco strumming style – has attracted some big fans of his music including Noel Fielding, JohnKennedy (XFM) & Larry Love (Lead Vocalist, Alabama 3)

Since moving over from Dublin, his CV boasts support slots for Pete Doherty, The View, Archive and Alabama 3 – proving, even as a one man acoustic act he’s more than capable of supporting the big sounds of bands.

Oxygen Thief by Massmatics – Free Music Feature MP3

MassMatics were kind enough to make available their most recent release to all of you lucky downloaders! Just out September 10th, the song, “Oxygen Thief” as well as the entire EP Independence | A Lack Thereof is available FOR FREE from the download link below.

The band themselves are a loud and infectious collective which is reflected both in their songs and live performances. Their music consists of catchy guitar hooks, tight rhythm section, relatable lyrics and catchy melodies. (I stole this from their bio. I couldn’t have said it better.)

Don’t Wanna by Scary Cherry and the Bang Bangs – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Aug 31, 2013 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | 1 comment

We’re quite fond of this track, “Don’t Wanna” by Scary Cherry and the Bang Bangs.  They came to us via Planetary PR, but they’re based and rockin’ the joint down there in Dallas, Texas. We don’t always lean toward this sort of dirty, fun rock/punk business but heck, we all gotta have fun once in awhile, don’t we?

How does one describe the three-headed party monster that is Scary Cherry and the Bang Bangs?  With sonic and artistic nods to 70′s glitter rock coupled with a snotty punk rawness, Scary Cherry’s debut LP GIRL is an assured, addled, four-on-the-floor joyride. Composed of Scary Cherry (Lead Vox), Tony Coke (Lead Guitar), and Minx the Jinx (Guitar, Bass, Keys), Scary Cherry combines riot grrrl ethos with the pop smarts of The Runaways for a sound that salutes the past while paving its own hard rock path.
