Courage by Pepper and Shepherd – Free Music Feature MP3
‘Courage’ by Pepper and Shepherd is the beautiful free music feature that I present to you today. A truly lovely track to listen to, and even nicer to own. After downloading this I advised you to spend some time hovering around their Soundcloud Page (or any of their pages for that matter) and whilst you are there be sure to listen to ‘If I Were Brave’ – it’s the kind of music that gives you goosebumps.
Pepper and Shepherd are James Pepper and Anthony Shepherd. They play intricate, honest folk music on mandolin, guitar, ukulele and harmonies. They formed in 2009 and both live in Peckham, South London.
Their second album, Kings on the Rye was released on August Bank Holiday. A bittersweet collection of eight original folk songs, written, recorded and produced in a tiny flat on Peckham High Street in the spring of 2013.

This weeks free music feature ‘Musical Chairs’ is brought to you by the best band – Van Susans. This feature is a live recording and it’s up for grabs for free to give you a taste of what the band will give you in a live show. Van Susans were the first band I ever interviewed for The Justin Wayne Show, and I was nervous as hell back then! You can go back and read my review of their live show still available on site.
Van Susans are a 5 piece pop/rock band from London UK. Consisting of Olly Andrews, Holly McLatchie, brothersRob and Ed Dullaway and Alex Bramwell, the group have a burning passion for melodic harmonies and tales of love and heartbreak, accompanied by both beautiful acoustic rhythms and assertive electric guitar riffs.Their debut album ‘Paused in the Moment’ is available now from BandCamp. Van Susans are signed to independent record label Beatnik Geek Records. They are currently in the process of writing and recording material for their 2nd album and let me tell it, it’s going to be great.

Narc (Acoustic Version) by Hawk – Free Music Feature MP3
This weeks free feature is ‘Narc (Acoustic Version)’ by Hawk.
Have I told you that I love Hawk? I don’t think I have, but there it is, a declaration on the internet for all to see. They were one of the hugely talented bands to play Westfield’s Summer Sizzler with Discovery 2 so we met to chew the fat a little I came away with CD in hand (like a party bag). Since then I’ve been listening to the contrasting tracks of the band, from loud and rocky to acoustic and beautiful – I have found it hard to narrow down on a favourite. So, if you too like what you hear just head over to their Soundcloud to grab the additional two tracks this band are kindly giving away now!
London-based HAWK have been described as everything from alt-pop to dark folk. Julie, Matt, Chris, and Sam hail from various corners of the UK and Ireland. Their sound has been described by Subba Culture as a “fusion of ambience and power, fronted by a soaring, crackling vocal”.
Lead singer Julie Hawk who has been described as “a bit of the Bjork side of brilliant bonkers” (Artrocker), began collaborating with Matt Harris, as a solo project in 2012. After a year of garnering plaudits on the acoustic scene, the pair joined with Sam and Chris to form HAWK, adding new edge and expansion to their sound, while retaining the detail and delicacy of their acoustic roots. HAWK released their debut single ‘Take Off Your Suit’ in July 2013, to positive press. The Sound of Confusion described “the sharp, stammering beat and spiralling guitar lines” as ”inventive and classic all at once.” T

When She Sings (B-side) by Little Brother Eli
“When She Sings (B-side)” by Little Brother Eli is this weeks amazing new free feature. Justin and I have been a fan of these guys since we first had the pleasure of hearing them, so I’m glad I can share this track with you all. Little Brother Eli are also Discovery 2 alumni, meaning I have had the chance to see them perform and of course have various chats with them for The Justin Wayne Show. They really are two of the nicest guys with so much talent and this song is a great example of that. So go on, grab this now and you’ll be tapping your feet in no time.
Little Brother Eli is the musical love child of Alex Grew and Josh Rigal. They’re going to bring our music to you through the release of our debut E.P accompanied by official music videos. A UK based blue-driven rock pair put together a talented group of musicians late in 2012 to help construct their self-titled E.P which was written, recorded and produced by the pair.

Disappearing by California Gypsies – Free Music Feature MP3
Your free feature of the week is from a band I had the pleasure of seeing live last night! California Gypsies played at this months Discovery 2 in High Street Kensington and they totally rocked it. Their bonus track ‘Disappearing’ is currently available for free along with their cover of ‘Common People’ which they gave us a taste of last night, and let me tell you, it’s pretty sweet. Acoustic track Disappearing is a quieter version of what this band bring to their live show, but it’s lovely to see another side to them and I’m excited to see what their debut album has in store for us.
California Gypsies are a four-piece band made up of Guitar, Bass, Drums and Cello. Classifying themselves primarily as Indie Rock their music is characterised by soaring melodies, thoughtful textures and a strong rhythmic drive. The band was originally formed by and played under the name of frontman Andy Kyte. Having played together for two years, gigging throughout London, as well as Brighton, Southampton and Somerset they developed their own sound and have recently decided to proceed as full band, California Gypsies.
Urban-indie / rock band based in London. Debut Album “King of the Kid” coming in Summer 2014.
This Fall by Big Tree – Free Music Feature MP3
Justin is actually the one to thank for this weeks free music feature as he tweeted me earlier this week saying that he was “Rockin’ out in the office” to this track. It may be Friday but there is still plenty of time for you all to rock out in your offices and get your Friday feeling on. ‘This Fall’ by Big Tree is this weeks delicious free feature for your ears. I’m download my copy now. Trust me, you should do that same, before it’s too late!
Born in Brooklyn and now rooted in the Bay Area, Big Tree is Kaila McIntyre-Bader (vox, keys), Luke Bace (bass, vox), Dan Pirello (guitar), and Matt Schory (drums). The group creates songs that have been called “anthemic,” “luscious,” and “stunning,” tapping into organic folk, greasy blues, and ambient indie rock. After several years of near constant performing, Big Tree’s live show stands alone in it’s own right, taking the audience on a journey that starts with the bopping of heads and the tugging of heart-strings, and often ends with a sweaty dance party and raucous sing-alongs.

Supermodel by Linda Harrison – Free Music Feature MP3
So here it is, your free feature of the week “Supermodel” by Linda Harrison. I’ve loved Linda since the day I met her eating fish and chips and talking about how much she loved tomato ketchup. It was only after this I saw her play and was blown away by her huge vocals and her sassy stage presence. Justin and I often play her music on the live show (and in our own time) so I was delighted to see she is offering a great track of hers away as a free download!
Linda Harrison is currently a DIY artist – the website, the Facebook, the YouTube, the Twitter, the videos, the songs all created, managed and published by HARRISON, which is pretty impressive if you ask me.

The Beach Girls and the Monster by Bordeauxxx – Free Music Feature MP3
Bordeauxxx are a band that Justin recently introduced me to and I now can’t get enough of. Whilst digging into our collection I also starting digging in their online networks and was surprised to discover a whole host of their music was available for my favourite price, ‘Name Your Price’. Don’t be greedy and go taking it all for free but do sample what’s in store with the great track ‘The Beach Girls and the Monster’.
Bordeuxxx’s Facebook Bio simply states “let’s get weird”, which makes me like this quirky band even more.
My Dad’s a Smiths Fan by Emily Capell – Free Music Feature MP3
This weeks free music feature is a cracking track called “My Dad’s a Smiths Fan” by Emily Capbell. This Youtube hit is already generating a great deal of attention for itself, and to make things even better she is currently letting it be yours for absolutely nothing. Grab this track now, before the buzz around this lady gets even bigger.
Emily Capell is a singer-songwriter and musician from North West London. Her songs tell stories of celebrity lust, musical influences, and general adolescence., Capell, whose musical stylings draw from a pool deep and wide, is affectionately described as sounding like the adopted daughter of Jamie T and Billy Bragg, and a distant relative of The Clash and The Libertines. Emily has been performing on the London circuit for over a year now.

This weeks free music feature is brought to you by the wonderful Tom Rosenthal with his track ‘Take Your Guess’. I’ve been following Tom since my friend David sent me his incredibly weird track ‘Ian’ (which you should definitely check out) a few years back. He’s even featured here on our free feature before with his amazing track ‘It’s OK’. I hope this track inspires you to delve into his music head first and get your hands on everything this guy has to offer. He even does bespoke songs!
