If you are currently offering a free song and would like Claire to consider it for her blog, contact her via email: claire (at) thejustinwayneshow (dot) com. Please include:

  • A short description of your track and you (band, artist, or dog-and-pony show)
  • A link to the site where it’s streamable, embeddable and downloadable – Bandcamp or Soundcloud are good options.
  • Reason WHY she should include it.

If you’re a reader – that’s ACE and welcome. Let me know if you find anything that should be on this blog too!

Doors by SKIES – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Sep 12, 2014 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Doors by SKIES – Free Music Feature MP3

“Doors” by SKIES is currently available for the sweet price of ‘Name Your Price’! I obviously strongly advice you to leave a tip in exchange for their kindness or perhaps let them treat you to this track, and you can treat them by buying another? I met SKIES last year when they played alongside Van Susans at a festival in Kent. I’m really liking their sound. I hope you will too.

Indie, synth-pop, alternative band SKIES are from Kent, UK. Stemming from previous projects, Alie and Jericho took the band on together in January 2014 after several years of writing and recording in other Kent bands. Both now co-write and co-produce SKIES songs. Alie originally started the band with a different name and line-up, during which time the band were developing their sound and songs. Now, Alie and Jericho take the band forward with a further refined sound, aiming more towards the synth-pop genre. Addictive riffs, creative composition, strong lyrical content and emotionally moving interludes run through their songs.

Song Without A Chorus by Feldspar – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Sep 5, 2014 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Song Without A Chorus by Feldspar – Free Music Feature MP3

Feldspar are offering you “Song Without A Chorus” this week, and you’d be a fool not to take it. I have to give David Jordan of Beatnik Geek Records the credit for this cracking Free Music Feature as he was kind enough to shoot it my way and in turn I’ve shared it with you!

Feldspar are (in their own words) Indie-Folk bastards doing heartbreak and bitterness for your pleasure.

Don’t be beguiled by the wry smiles Feldspar sport on stage; this is a band that deals in heartbreak and bitterness, anguish and redemption. At times excruciatingly hushed and desolate, at others anthemic and euphoric, this 5-piece use the full range of their instruments and voices to compelling effect, bringing to life the vivid and moving lyrics of frontman Will Green.

The band run their own live music nights in London (GreenTape Presents) and organise, shoot and edit their own live music videos (Songs from Empty Venues). Their First Compass Tour is happening now.

Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl by Dancing Years (but Originally by Broken Social Scene) is this weeks delicious free download for you. After releasing their debut single ‘Here’s To My Old Friends’ the boys have continued to rise – and righty so as both times I’ve seen them live I’ve genuinely had tears in my eyes (as did Justin).

Dancing Years are former Discovery alumni signed to label Hide & Seek. Band members are as follows: David Henshaw (vocals), Joseph Lawrenson (piano), Dan Fielding (electric guitar), Dominic Butler (violin) & Joe Montague (drums).

If you are a fan of this track (which you’d be insane not to be) then do go back and check out our Discovery interview with the boys along with their live set!

Juicy Lucy by Titty Bingo – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Aug 22, 2014 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Juicy Lucy by Titty Bingo – Free Music Feature MP3

We’ve already teased this on the live show, but here it is! Juicy Lucy by Titty Bingo is our free music feature of the week, but it doesn’t end there! We are also running a funky fresh competition meaning that more than just a download could be yours this week! All you have to do is use the hashtag #givemejuicy to win the Titty Bingo prize pack including a hat, sticker and CD.

Titty Bingo–Dahr Jamail, Freddy Fletcher, Larry Fulcher, Derek O’Brien, Bobbie Nelson, and Willie Nelson (when he feels like it)–are rooted in the roadhouse of outlaw country, classic hard rock, and Texas electric blues. If you’ve ever been to Austin, you’ve probably seen our brightly colored bumper stickers. Maybe, you saw a sticker in Rome, Italy, a small burg in Montana, or a bar scene in the Quentin Tarantino film “Death Proof”. You might have asked yourself, “What in the hell is Titty Bingo and how do I play?” Our band name has been co-opted into the slang lexicon, turned into an economic analogy, and cursed as an ode to advertising overkill.

Take a listen to our music and you’ll be able to say you’ve played Titty Bingo.

Week 52 by Frank Hamilton – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Aug 8, 2014 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Week 52 by Frank Hamilton – Free Music Feature MP3

‘Week 52’ by Frank Hamilton is your free feature this week.

We bloody love this guy. Everything he puts outs makes me happy on the inside, so obviously I’m very happy to see that he’s has all his songs listed from his ‘one song a week’ challenge that he did back in 2012.

Not adverse to challenges this is also the man who recorded one of his EP’s on one round trip on the London Eye!

Frank Hamilton is an English singer/songwriter/producer, best known for his #OneSongaWeek project. He spent the whole of 2012 writing, recording and releasing one song a week. Most of the songs were recorded on a laptop in #OneSongaWeek HQ (Frank’s living room) and released every Friday along with a frightfully honest blog.

The ‘Best of #OneSongaWeek’ album was rush-released on December 10th in response to iTunes choosing week 45′s song (Flaws & Ceilings) as their free single of the week. The project was 100% DIY, cost absolutely nothing (apart from the endless supply of tea-bags) and culminated in the first and last #OneSongaWeek live show at Camden Barfly (sold out) with some very special guests from the 52 weeks.

Street Queen by The Greasy Slicks – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Aug 1, 2014 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Street Queen by The Greasy Slicks – Free Music Feature MP3

This weeks free music feature is the cracking 7 minute track ‘Street Queen’ by The Greasy Slicks. I saw them take to the stage last night at Discovery 2 and became one of many new fans to the band. With a strong musical focus and no regard to the set time limit I think lovers of the art will fall in love with these three boys.

Interview and live set from the night coming soon to The Justin Wayne Show.

The Greasy Slicks consist of Jack Kendrew on guitar and vocals, drummer Rian O’Grady and Nathan Rasdall on bass.

They formed in 2012 through a mutual appreciation of traditional and contemporary blues rock and strive to create the songs that don’t sound like anyone else; the results reflect just how unique they are as musicians and songwriters.

The band have youth on their side, and in the age of the throwaway band they truly bring something different to the table. They released their first official EP ‘Into The Night’ on March 24th which is being supported by tour dates across the UK.

I’m a Fever by Moving Castles – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Jul 17, 2014 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on I’m a Fever by Moving Castles – Free Music Feature MP3

This weeks free music feature is the cracking track ‘I’m a Fever’ by Moving Castles. This was one of our music submissions which we played this for the first time on last weeks live show! This track is ridiculously catchy, so download it now and then sing it for the rest of the day. (Just me?)

In 2011 Moving Castles split their energy between getting settled in to their new home of Austin, Texas and releasing their acclaimed debut EP “Twin Daggers” digitally and on CD format. Written, produced, engineered and promoted entirely by the band without outside help. Though having a somewhat fluid lineup upon relocating to Austin, Moving Castles has always been focused on writing epic, catchy songs about their lives and making energetic and honest indie rock music.

Moving Castles is: John Eric Hetherington, Nick Cogdill, Marshall Garrett Berry, Kyle Durst & Blake Rawlings.

‘Setting Fire’ EP out now!

Stupid (Acoustic Version) by Alex Highton – Free Music Feature MP3

Posted by on Jul 11, 2014 in Blogs, Featured, Free Music Feature | Comments Off on Stupid (Acoustic Version) by Alex Highton – Free Music Feature MP3

It’s Friday, it’s free music feature time! This week we have an eerily beautiful, acoustic version of Alex Highton‘s track ‘Stupid’ for your listening pleasure. I already have a copy of his album ‘Wooditton Wives Club’ in my collection so know the original well. However I’ve really enjoyed hearing the striped back version that he is kindly giving away for free. I hope you will too.

After growing up in Liverpool, and then ten years or so in London, Alex decamped with his family to rural Cambridgeshire. What he found was an England he didn’t know existed and a life he didn’t know he was looking for. With no expectations at all he wrote and recorded a bunch of songs that chronicled his journey from the city to the country. Just stuff about what was going on around him, his wife, his kids, breathing in the fresh air and staring into the abyss…

His debut album ‘Wooditton Wives Club’ is out for you to own right now.
