Here’s Safe Secrets 5.5 answers:
When you’re onstage, what’s different about you from the every day you?
We’re fairly quiet people off stage. Almost reserved. But at that moment that you and everyone else in the room moves to the same beat, You gotta give it your all. If you fake it on stage the audience will know. If you aren’t covered in sweat, blood and tears when you leave a stage, you’ve just done it wrong.
We want to inspire people to actually throw a fist in the air and give a shit, about tomorrow, even this very moment. Every second on stage is an example of the fact that we were meant to be in that exact moment. Music is just simply what we
love most… besides maybe the people that listen to us.
What gets you in the mood or inspires you to write music?
So many things, literally almost everything. Music can come from a long day at work, banging on a table, or even just having an incredible conversation. We are blessed to have great families, and the support from them and our friends keeps us going.
Many of our songs have secrets that were anonymously submitted by fans, and are used as lyrics and subject matter. Beyond all that though, we have a lot of respect for the amazing artists that have paved the way. Listening
to our favorite musicians gives us a great melting pot of ideas.
Tell us about the first time you heard yourself on radio.
Honestly, our luck is shit. We miss it every time
What’s been your most memorable performance ever?
Alright, so here’s a story. We got a call at 11 at night that there was a party with an open slot on the bill at midnight. Any excuse to play is a good one for us, so naturally we jumped on it. We got there and it was this party with DJ’s behind a warehouse. So we start moving gear and Seabass (guitar, vox) falls off a small cliff roughly 10 feet, and proceeded to limp
his gear to the house. After we setup Seabass and Ric (bass) noticed that verytime they played a note on the instruments they got electrocuted. We found out later that there was no ground wire in the extension cable, the DJ’s didn’t notice. Joaquin (AKA Waka – drums) said we’ve come too far, were playing. We powered through an hour long set that ended with an epic
cover of Pony (Ginuwine). When a friend helped put away the gear, the back window accidently got smashed out of our car by a guitar amp. We noticed right before the cops showed up. Got home at sunrise. Had a great time.
