5.5 Questions with Codie Prevost
As small town guy Codie Prevost’s career continues it’s upward climb, he took a few minutes to talk with the listeners of The Justin Wayne Show.
Codie continues to gather accolades on an almost annual basis in his native county of Canada. Recently, Codie received a Country Recording of The Year nomination from the Western Canadian Music Awards for his his recent release, All Kinds of Crazy.
Codie has one foot firmly in the country music genre, as he defines his own sound while telling stories of hard luck lives and small town observations. One thing for certain, Cody, like many other 5.5 participants, develops a hunger while answering the sandwich question.
Tell us about the first time you heard yourself on radio?
I was driving in my car on my way to a show and the very first song I recorded and released called “Surrounds Me Again” came on the radio. I stopped the car, turned it up and I remember having goose bumps. It was such an exciting moment.
As a performer, what’s been your coolest day ever?
The coolest day was getting to go with my good friend Blake Emmons and watch the Grand Ole Opry from backstage. I got to meet Charlie Daniels, Jewel, and so many other performers there. It was surreal watching the bands perform from backstage.
Who’s your musical role model and why?
Keith Urban has been one of my biggest influences. He’s a great performer, songwriter and musician. You can really tell he loves all those aspects of music when you hear his songs.
When you’re onstage, what’s different about you from the every day you?
Music is a way for me to share my feelings & emotions that would be really hard to express otherwise. When I’m onstage I’m living in the moment and feeling the message of the song thru the music, conveying it to the audience.
What’s on the ideal sandwich and what would you wash it down with?
It would have to have cheese, pickles, possibly some jalapenos, if it’s not a singing day, mustard and salami on whole wheat bread. This question is making me hungry lol!!
Tell us 3 songs from your current playlist.
Cop Car – Keith Urban
It Ain’t A Party – Bryan Adams
Like Jesus Does – Eric Church
Thank you, Cody!
