A weekly independent music show bringing underground, unsigned, and independent tunes to your ears. Playing music that deserves to be heard for those who deserve better music.
Yup, I was hungry… and now a bit sick – but we’ve got TUNES and VOTING to talk about!
Piles of great new songs rolling in and we’ve got a bunch of them on this week including Pacific Northwest gems Hey Marseilles and a new one from Cincinnati’s Pomegranates.
Also, voting for the first annual Recharged Radio Awards has begun, and some of our short listed groups from The Justin Wayne Show Birthday Best Awards are there, along with lots of other great tracks. Pop over to put in your vote, and to find some great new music!
That’s about all from me for now, pop the kettle on, grab a bucket of your favorite fried chicken, and let’s have a great show!

That’s right, we didn’t have special guest this week so it was music, music, and more music! TOTW goes to our friend Karim Fanous, and the tune happens to be the title track to his Mad Masters EP that’s out now (as you can see to the left!) Interested in owning this EP yourself? Just shoot an email to jw@thejustinwayneshow.com and tell us what the 4th track is on the album and I’ll send you a copy. 1st one to do it WINS IT, and I’ve only got one to give!
Speaking of winning discs, it’s time to officially announce “The Scudley Sessions” our live sessions down in Perth, Austrailia at Scudley Records’ Studios with producer Pete Renzullo. We interviewed him a few weeks back and liked him so much we asked him to stay! He’s got some live sets and chats to the Perth artists, and we’re going to be launching it March 10th, so be there or be square. More about this next week.
We’ve also got quite a few new submissions (and quite a few more for next week) so let us know what you like and what you don’t. Just click below on the “Leave Comment” button and do just that.
In other news, I’m teaming up with Kimmi Rudolph of The Metal Deli to add another show onto my belt and the lipstick case of Insomnia Radio. It’s Insomnia Radio: Chicago and we’re getting all of our stuff together to launch it. We’ll have a mini-episode this week and then full, one-hour podcasted episodes bi-weekly after that. Are you a Chicago artist? Are you a Chicago music lover? C’mon over!
Yeah, it’s Halloween. Creepy stuff is bound to happen, especially on an episode 66!
The Justin Wayne Show indulges in our first Track of the Week (or TOTW as it’s called around the campfire) with a very great track called “Honesty Policy” by a new band to the show, Zalinski. They’ve just recorded their second EP and we’re excited to get our dirty little finger and paws all over it.
Our first video feature, direct from Colin’s Weekly Music Video Podcast is Vitriol by another new band to the show, Bluejuice. These guys are absolutely amazing – so much so they don’t have to take anything seriously. Have a look at their video for this song below.
Brett of Monumental Music Group joins us for a chat in the second half of the show as well as more discussion about Jordan’s alleged beard he’s trying to grow and things like that.
AND, and and… I forgot to mention this on the show but we’ve got a voicemail set up in the US now, thanks to our friends at drop.io (those same friendly folk who provide our FTP dropbox that’s so slick.) It’s just there in the sidebar or dial (within the US or internationally it’s +1) 646-462-4073and extension 15797. Go on, leave us a message and we’ll get it onto the show.
That’s about it, let’s get this playlist out there.
The Justin Wayne Show, Episode 66: The Wrath of Wayne
Alexx Calise is along with us today for a great interview from the sunny skies (slightly blotched by smog) and flowing fields (sliced up by housing developments and roads) of Los Angeles. She reminds us that it’s still possible to make it in the music industry and echos some of what Trevor Larkin mentioned last week: a musician nowadays needs to be a multi-faceted person. Join us for that at the top of the second hour.
The first hour is filled with great new tracks, some shiny re-spins, and the warm, welcoming voice of Jober. It’s always great to have our web editor on the show. We’ve also got a growing e-mail bag so we’ll read from there, post Jason’s video (remember him from episode 10?) where he tries to skim some water on his snowboard (notice I said, “tries”.)
And, as I judged the Surface Unsigned London Finals this past weekend I’ll speak about that experience as tracks start rolling in from the artists I met there. Links to the artists are below along with a few other links including the Surface Unsigned Website (finals are 26th adn 27th at the O2 Indigo in London) and extra Alexx Calise links. Enjoy!
The Justin Wayne Show Episode 59: Alexx Calise
The Southern Ocean :: Everybody Come Outside :: Pomegranates
Along with Trevor Larkin, a big JW Show announcement, and some fantastic new tunes we jump into episode 58 of The Justin Wayne Show. We’ll talk more about the announcement in the notes next week but make sure you listen this week to find out what it is, as well as to hear the fabulous interview we did with singer, songwriter, and independent music guru Trevor Larkin.
He provided us some great advice about the digital music industry, some insights into what we have to look forward to and what we may have left behind as well as tracks from his upcoming acoustic album, “Number 2″ as well as talk about a full-band, electric album which is all very exciting.
