A weekly independent music show bringing underground, unsigned, and independent tunes to your ears. Playing music that deserves to be heard for those who deserve better music.
Jason Ober joins us on the show this week to tell us of his wonderful experience with The Powwows at Uncommon Ground (in fact, you can read about it too in his article just below this one on the site.) There’s another couple of tracks from the Zalinski boys from their new EP, “Actions, Reactions, and Misunderstandings” as well as loads of great music, chat, and the usual fare here at The JW Show.
Playlist? Please.
The Justin Wayne Show Episode 69: Best Friends Forever
We’ll have some great stuff brewed up for next week’s big show number 70 so keep it locked, get your subscription up to date and prime yourselves for a great show next week!
Yeah, it’s Halloween. Creepy stuff is bound to happen, especially on an episode 66!
The Justin Wayne Show indulges in our first Track of the Week (or TOTW as it’s called around the campfire) with a very great track called “Honesty Policy” by a new band to the show, Zalinski. They’ve just recorded their second EP and we’re excited to get our dirty little finger and paws all over it.
Our first video feature, direct from Colin’s Weekly Music Video Podcast is Vitriol by another new band to the show, Bluejuice. These guys are absolutely amazing – so much so they don’t have to take anything seriously. Have a look at their video for this song below.
Brett of Monumental Music Group joins us for a chat in the second half of the show as well as more discussion about Jordan’s alleged beard he’s trying to grow and things like that.
AND, and and… I forgot to mention this on the show but we’ve got a voicemail set up in the US now, thanks to our friends at drop.io (those same friendly folk who provide our FTP dropbox that’s so slick.) It’s just there in the sidebar or dial (within the US or internationally it’s +1) 646-462-4073and extension 15797. Go on, leave us a message and we’ll get it onto the show.
That’s about it, let’s get this playlist out there.
The Justin Wayne Show, Episode 66: The Wrath of Wayne
If you missed it last night don’t worry, there’s plenty more where that came from. We’ve joined up with Recharged Radio and now stream the show over there first at 8pm GMT on Wednesdays… then we podcast it out on Thursday. (I keep saying this for the podcasting folk so they don’t worry!)
We had LOADS of crackin’ tracks on the show this week, nearly 30 which is a JW Show record. Perhaps we’ll have to try and push 30 in one of these upcoming RR shows. It won’t happen with some of the interviews we’ve been scheduling… which is even better news for you!
So… next week 8pm GMT on Wednesday (click for a time zone converter) meet us back here or on http://rechargedradio.com for the next episode. Watch this spot as we may even be doing it live. Like Bill O’Reilly says…
The Justin Wayne Show Episode 62 – Now on Recharged Radio
Thanks to Jarrod for pushing play last night as well as Jordan, Minki, Dave, Alex, and the rest of the RR crew. Happy to be a part!
Also, thanks to those who were in the chatroom on Recharged Radio last night and we’ll be banging on again next week at 8pm GMT over there. (“There” being http://rechargedradio.com.)
This week’s title has many meanings… surfacing = late, and also surfacing = The Surface Unsigned National Showcase going on this weekend that we’ve got loads of music from. Looking for something to do this weekend and are in/around London? Have a listen and then let me know if you’re coming down. We’ll meet up for a pint.
Also this marks the last week ‘casting on our own as we’ll be streaming Wednesday, September 30th on Recharged Radio. It kicks off at 8pm and goes until 10pm (that’s London time… 2pm Eastern, 1pm Central, 12pm Mountain, 11am Pacific for all you North American Listeners) and it’s at http://rechargedradio.com Head there and click on the “Listen Now” link and you’ll be able to chat to us, listen before the show goes out for podcast, and enjoy all that there is of this marvelous show.
There’s also an announcement about our new writer coming to the show to write reviews – we’re very excited to have the esteemed writer David Couch writing for The Justin Wayne Show now. Keep an eye on http://thejustinwayneshow.com for his debut writings and future column and all sorts. He’s keen and rarin’ to go – and we’re pleased as punch to have him on.
Ta for now. Here’s the shownotes!
The Justin Wayne Show Episode 61 – Surfacing… Nearly Recharged
Thanks again for a wonderful show. Next week, don’t forget to catch us on Recharged Radio before you can get the podcast (but don’t worry, the podcast isn’t going away!)
Alexx Calise is along with us today for a great interview from the sunny skies (slightly blotched by smog) and flowing fields (sliced up by housing developments and roads) of Los Angeles. She reminds us that it’s still possible to make it in the music industry and echos some of what Trevor Larkin mentioned last week: a musician nowadays needs to be a multi-faceted person. Join us for that at the top of the second hour.
The first hour is filled with great new tracks, some shiny re-spins, and the warm, welcoming voice of Jober. It’s always great to have our web editor on the show. We’ve also got a growing e-mail bag so we’ll read from there, post Jason’s video (remember him from episode 10?) where he tries to skim some water on his snowboard (notice I said, “tries”.)
And, as I judged the Surface Unsigned London Finals this past weekend I’ll speak about that experience as tracks start rolling in from the artists I met there. Links to the artists are below along with a few other links including the Surface Unsigned Website (finals are 26th adn 27th at the O2 Indigo in London) and extra Alexx Calise links. Enjoy!
