The CDs began to make their way around the shop he works in, and low and behold I received a phone call the next day praising the show. Thus, I was introduced to Jason who enjoyed the fresh outlet of music which was all completely new to him. We talked some more (because I do like hearing praise, especially about the show) and I found out that he was a snowboarder and had tried to snowboard across one of those ditches full of water that we see all the time on ESPN. I had him tell the story on the show and you can hear it now if you listen to Episode 10.

As it is such a momentous occasion as we’ve reached a milestone in the Show’s life, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank some of the integral people to the Show as we know it today.

First, a special thanks to Ryan Flynn who does all of our imaging, TOTHs (top of the hour), and little stabs that keep a uniform and professional quality to the show. Thank you, Ryan for all your hard work.

That’s the chorus from the Band of the Week, Four Year Strong. An amazing group of guys I’m told by my cohost this week, Ryan. One of the hardest working, hardest touring bands right now on the indie punk scene you should definitely cruise over and check them out. They’re starting a US tour starting on March 18th through till the beginning of May and they’ve also got dates booked all the way through August. I’ve been doing a bit of experimentation and research and after realizing that there’s some difference between typing the subscribe URL into your browser and clicking on the link in the sidebar here, I’ve found the best way. I’ll be able to email the link, but the best way is to click on the link. It even says, “Click Here, it’s Easy!” because that’s the easiest way to either listen or subscribe.

The Band of the Week this time is Asthmaboy. Their project is incredibly unique. Glindon Marten put this album together with his graphic design portfolio in the summer of 2007. I got the chance to interview Glindon and his writing partner John Boone on the show this week as well, and learned a bit about why they did it, how they work as a writing team, and what they think of music’s digital revolution. Check it out on the show.

For all of you artists, I’m putting out the call to send me a little drop with you band’s name it in. You know, like those little drops on the radio? You know. I sent it out in an email too. If you’ve got a microphone, Garageband, Audacity, or you’re in the studio with the whole setup, I don’t care. I can make bad sounding stuff sound good, so send me whatever you can! The band of the week this week was Lights Out Dancing from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I was fortunate to catch up with a few of the band members on the phone and we got them to say a few words – even telling us an almost compromising touring story. Their five-song EP is available from their myspace page at www.myspace.com/lightsoutdancing or find their music on the iTunes directory. Yes, they’re on iTunes.

With a rich blend of high-energy guitars and (I’m not going to say “soaring vocals” because that’s what everyone says, but that’s what I WANT to say) lovely vocals the band has come a long way from their roots as the pop/punk Charmin. Standing out from their peers as they sing positive and motivating songs their EP is enjoyable to listen to and can even provide motivation on a slow day. I find pride in playing their music on the show because I feel it highlights the core of what we’re trying to do too – bring hope to a sometimes hopeless culture. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, and Lights Out Dancing reminds us of that.

And one special thanks… Thanks to Equal Vision Records, a very sweet indie label that’s given us permission to play anything from their website.
