Episode 80: More Music!

That’s right, we didn’t have  special guest this week so it was music, music, and more music!  TOTW goes to our friend Karim Fanous, and the tune happens to be the title track to his Mad Masters EP that’s out now (as you can see to the left!)  Interested in owning this EP yourself?  Just shoot an email to jw@thejustinwayneshow.com and tell us what the 4th track is on the album and I’ll send you a copy.  1st one to do it WINS IT, and I’ve only got one to give!

Speaking of winning discs, it’s time to officially announce “The Scudley Sessions” our live sessions down in Perth, Austrailia at Scudley Records’ Studios with producer Pete Renzullo.  We interviewed him a few weeks back and liked him so much we asked him to stay!  He’s got some live sets and chats to the Perth artists, and we’re going to be launching it March 10th, so be there or be square.  More about this next week.

We’ve also got  quite a few new submissions (and quite a few more for next week) so let us know what you like and what you don’t.  Just click below on the “Leave Comment” button and do just that.

In other news, I’m teaming up with Kimmi Rudolph of The Metal Deli to add another show onto my belt and the lipstick case of Insomnia Radio.  It’s Insomnia Radio: Chicago and we’re getting all of our stuff together to launch it.  We’ll have a mini-episode this week and then full, one-hour podcasted episodes bi-weekly after that.  Are you a Chicago artist?  Are you a Chicago music lover?  C’mon over!

Enough chatter from me.  Here’s the playlist.

Episode 77: The Birthday Best Awards 2010!

Puck

Puck

The second annual Birthday Best Awards have arrived again, meaning that The Justin Wayne Show is now two-years old!  Wow… we’re gonna be gnawing on the sides of coffee tables and opening doors we shouldn’t soon!

As far as those doors we should open, we ran down the top 25 songs of the year voted on by four of us here at JW towers and many of you – over 350 of you!  Thanks for doing that, we appeciate it.  The feedback form is still up, but on a different page – http://thejustinwayneshow.com/feedback if you fancy giving us your opinion.  We’re going to be making some changes here in our third year, let us know what you’d like to see happen!

I must give a big thanks to a few people, as I tend to do this time of year, for making this all possible.  First, Jason for his writing and encouragement, Ryan Flynn for the theme song, and Jamie for her unconditional love and support.   David Couch for coming on and writing for us (he even came down and helped me do this show!)

David and Justin

David and Justin

Also thanks to Jordan, Dave, Alex and Minki at Recharged Radio and Jarrod on Tourdates for their big boost into the live radio world again this year.  And, I can’t forget to thank our new cat (and JW Show mascot) Puck!  Thanks for not chewing through the power cord!  It’s been an amazing year.  I’m excited to dig into year three with so many great allies!

As is also customary with this awards show, I don’t want to spoil the winners for those that missed the live show or always listen to the podcast.  I will still put the top 25 songs below but the actual list, in order won’t be available in a text form until next week.  You’ll have to actually listen to the show to find out!

The awards that are up for grabs:

  • Best Artist of the Year
  • Best Song of the Year
  • Best Band Name of the Year
  • Presenter’s Picks (Each Presenter gets one of these)
  • Audience Choice Award

And the nominees are…

The Top 25 Songs Submitted to the Justin Wayne Show in 2009

(in no particular order… yet!)

The full playlist, in order, as well as the winners of the respective awards will be posted in text next week, but to find out just listen, download, or subscribe to this show right now!  See you next week for the results.

Cheers,

Episode 76: Right to Vote

First off, Lauretta of The Powwows joins us this week for a fabulous interview and she even played us a tune live via Skype.  Come check it out!

vote1That’s right, you have the right to vote at http://thejustinwayneshow.com/vote for your favorite song of the year or as we call it (so cleverly) “The Audience Choice Award”.  Heck, this form even gives you a chance to tell us how we’re doing, how you’re digesting the show, and what we can do in Year 3 to make The Justin Wayne Show EVEN BETTER.  How cool is that?

(We think it’s pretty cool.)

What else is cool?  The Birthday Best Awards are coming next week, 3rd of February at 8pm GMT (3pm EST, 2pm CST, 1pm MST, 12pm PST)

Track of the Week this week is Recharged Radio Wide!  ”Solid State” by Fake Teak is just that good and you should be able to download it for free soon from his Tourdates site at http://tourdates.co.uk/fake-teak.

And we even had a Video feature this week which will show up below the playlist as usual: it’s the “Ocean Passage” stylings from our Projekt mates.  The video was shot down by the Thames, literally on the banks of the Thames, which was once an Ocean Passage… get it?  In fact, there are probably some people that still consider it as such, although I wouldn’t want to get into a debate with them, so… playlist time!
