That’s right, we’ve got our new producer Claire Rozario out on the town and she ran into the boys from Van Susans right before their gig!  (Well, maybe we had a little head start from their PR company.)  Thanks to Claire, the band, Futureproof Promotions and Beatnik Geek Records for all the help and extra promo they’ve done.  We’ve also got new music from The ID, Cinemawave, The Mercy House, Bus Stop Dreams, and tons more.  It’s a packed-with-music show.

And next week we’ve got Calvin Roche live in the studio!  We’re very excited for the music AND the excuse to order pizza.

Tonight’s show features a chat with Georgie from The L Project about the upcoming charity single “It Does Get Better” released on Saturday 11th February.  We’ll hear from Georgie about this single supporting LGBT education in schools, the charities it benefits, the motivation for the project, who involved, and we’ll play it for you and tell you how you can get the single and support the project.

We’ve also got brand new tunes from brand new artists to the show inclding Lyre, Mr. Kurtz, The Wheel Workers, Auditorium, and Greymatter.

What Billy had to say about Blacklab…

One of the tracks being played today is by a band called Black Lab. This band rocks, and I remember in the late 90′s seeing Paul Durham and his band at a small club where we used to live. It was electrifying and was one of the indie sparks that remains to this day. Regardless of one’s age, artists come along that we connect with. Black Lab/Paul Durham in the late 90′s was a connection like Springsteen in the 70′s and Pearl Jam in the early 90′s was for me. As I fast forward to today’s indie music, that very same search leads to new and great discoveries. The Justin Wayne Show has exposed me to many great artists, and I particularly like the Clintons, Loomis and the Lust, and Titty Bingo. Great indie artists and worth checking out.

Our 5th song (FIVE GOLDEN RINGS!!) comes from the Minneapolis powerhouse Lights Out Dancing.

Created in May of 2007, Lights Out Dancing is a Pop Rock n’ Power Roll group out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.  The newly formed band knew they were ready to make their music their life.  In August of 2007 the band independently released their first record; a five song EP entitled “Oh, the Places You’ll Go”. The album was recorded with help of producer Jordan Schmidt and mastered at Sterling Sound in New York.  After heavy independent touring, and promotion such as following the Vans Warped Tour, the record became a great success, selling over 17,000 copies.

In August 2009 the band teamed up with producer Rob Freeman to create their second album.  With high expectations for the second EP, the band set to work, harder than ever, to make Ever the Optimist an even greater success.  Following the release of the new record Lights Out Dancing received features from purevolume.com and both Alternative Press and Substream Magazines.  The band was also chosen in the top 20 unsigned bands of 2009 by Myspace.com and in the top 10 by purevolume.com.

In the early 2010  Lights Out Dancing gained the experience and talent of vocalist Jordan Wark from San Diego, California.  Now, more than ever, the band is striving to reach a new level of both writing and performing.

Noted for a highly energetic and entertaining live show, Lights Out Dancing is making a name for themselves around the country with their heavy touring schedule. They are a lighthearted band always looking for a good time that can still take their art seriously. As a result they are constantly finding new ways to keep their music and band fresh and inspiring.  Guitarist Mike Haase sums it up by saying “We are best friends who love what we do and always do our best at it.  It’s like we always say ‘We take having fun way too seriously.’
