One of the tracks being played today is by a band called Black Lab. It was electrifying and was one of the indie sparks that remains to this day. Regardless of one’s age, artists come along that we connect with. Black Lab/Paul Durham in the late 90′s was a connection like Springsteen in the 70′s and Pearl Jam in the early 90′s was for me. As I fast forward to today’s indie music, that very same search leads to new and great discoveries. The Justin Wayne Show has exposed me to many great artists, and I particularly like the Clintons, Loomis and the Lust, and Titty Bingo. Great indie artists and worth checking out.

Created in May of 2007, Lights Out Dancing is a Pop Rock n’ Power Roll group out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The newly formed band knew they were ready to make their music their life. In August of 2007 the band independently released their first record; a five song EP entitled “Oh, the Places You’ll Go”. The album was recorded with help of producer Jordan Schmidt and mastered at Sterling Sound in New York. After heavy independent touring, and promotion such as following the Vans Warped Tour, the record became a great success, selling over 17,000 copies.

In August 2009 the band teamed up with producer Rob Freeman to create their second album. With high expectations for the second EP, the band set to work, harder than ever, to make Ever the Optimist an even greater success. Following the release of the new record Lights Out Dancing received features from purevolume.com and both Alternative Press and Substream Magazines. The band was also chosen in the top 20 unsigned bands of 2009 by Myspace.com and in the top 10 by purevolume.com.

In the early 2010 Lights Out Dancing gained the experience and talent of vocalist Jordan Wark from San Diego, California. Now, more than ever, the band is striving to reach a new level of both writing and performing.

Noted for a highly energetic and entertaining live show, Lights Out Dancing is making a name for themselves around the country with their heavy touring schedule. They are a lighthearted band always looking for a good time that can still take their art seriously. As a result they are constantly finding new ways to keep their music and band fresh and inspiring. Guitarist Mike Haase sums it up by saying “We are best friends who love what we do and always do our best at it. It’s like we always say ‘We take having fun way too seriously.’

This song, along with all of the 12 Songs of Christmas are only downloadable through the 7th of January, 2011.

<itunes:summary>Our 5th song (FIVE GOLDEN RINGS!!) comes from the Minneapolis powerhouse Lights Out Dancing (http://lightsoutdancing.com).

(http://thejustinwayneshow.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/lights-out-dancing-logo-1-300x230.jpg)Created in May of 2007, Lights Out Dancing (http://lightsoutdancing.com/) is a Pop Rock n’ Power Roll group out of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Following the release of the new record Lights Out Dancing (http://lightsoutdancing.com/) received features from purevolume.com and both Alternative Press and Substream Magazines. The band was also chosen in the top 20 unsigned bands of 2009 by Myspace.com and in the top 10 by purevolume.com.

(http://thejustinwayneshow.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/lights-out-dancing-band-1-300x220.jpg)In the early 2010 Lights Out Dancing (http://lightsoutdancing.com/) gained the experience and talent of vocalist Jordan Wark from San Diego, California. Now, more than ever, the band is striving to reach a new level of both writing and performing.

Noted for a highly energetic and entertaining live show, Lights Out Dancing (http://lightsoutdancing.com/) is making a name for themselves around the country with their heavy touring schedule. They are a lighthearted band always looking for a good time that can still take their art seriously. As a result they are constantly finding new ways to keep their music and band fresh and inspiring. Guitarist Mike Haase sums it up by saying "We are best friends who love what we do and always do our best at it. It's like we always say 'We take having fun way too seriously.'

This song, along with all of the 12 Songs of Christmas (../2010/12/the-12-songs-of-christmas-subscribe/) are only downloadable through the 7th of January, 2011.</itunes:summary>

<itunes:summary>Zalinski, one of my favourite London bands has broken up, so I thought I'd replay my interview with them from November when they released their most recent EP, Actions, Reactions, and Misunderstandings. I'm very sad they're gone, but listen to cuts from this great EP (as well as tons of other great tunes) on one of my favourite episodes.

Back next week! See you then... with bells on!

//

(../wp-content/uploads/2009/11/zalinski-arm1.jpg)Kerpow! This new EP from Zalinski is crammed full of thick, jam-based, guitar rock that (if you fancy a good rock n’ roll tune) you’re gonna really enjoy. We’ve got the band on the show (in their car, actually) chatting to us about how they came together, the way they write, and where this new EP is taking them. What’s it called? Actions, Reactions, and Misunderstandings. We obviously liked it so much we named the episode after it.

This week we were notified that The Justin Wayne Show has been nominated for a European Podcast Award which was EXCELLENT news! Care to donate thirty seconds (not money!) of your time for the cause? Head over and vote!

Vote for The Justin Wayne Show at the European Podcast Awards Site (http://www.european-podcast-award.eu/uk/start/vote-and-win/personality/type/player/nc/1/uid/1115/podid/1115.html)

We have also got some more fresh sonic deliciousness from Black Bikini Alpha, The Powwows, and another new track from our boys at Junebug.

<itunes:summary>What a great interview this was last September, and still such great topics that we discussed. As Trevor's a music entrepreneur and new media enthusiast (I saw that on Matt Stevens' profile the other day, also pertains to Trevor) we had some great discussions about what a musician is, what they could/should be, and a few ideas on how to go about being a full-time musician.

Enjoy! ~JW

(../wp-content/uploads/2009/09/trevorsoundboard.jpg)Along with Trevor Larkin, a big JW Show announcement, and some fantastic new tunes we jump into episode 58 of The Justin Wayne Show. We’ll talk more about the announcement in the notes next week but make sure you listen this week to find out what it is, as well as to hear the fabulous interview we did with singer, songwriter, and independent music guru Trevor Larkin.

He provided us some great advice about the digital music industry, some insights into what we have to look forward to and what we may have left behind as well as tracks from his upcoming acoustic album, “Number 2″ as well as talk about a full-band, electric album which is all very exciting.
