A weekly independent music show bringing underground, unsigned, and independent tunes to your ears. Playing music that deserves to be heard for those who deserve better music.
That’s right, we didn’t have special guest this week so it was music, music, and more music! TOTW goes to our friend Karim Fanous, and the tune happens to be the title track to his Mad Masters EP that’s out now (as you can see to the left!) Interested in owning this EP yourself? Just shoot an email to jw@thejustinwayneshow.com and tell us what the 4th track is on the album and I’ll send you a copy. 1st one to do it WINS IT, and I’ve only got one to give!
Speaking of winning discs, it’s time to officially announce “The Scudley Sessions” our live sessions down in Perth, Austrailia at Scudley Records’ Studios with producer Pete Renzullo. We interviewed him a few weeks back and liked him so much we asked him to stay! He’s got some live sets and chats to the Perth artists, and we’re going to be launching it March 10th, so be there or be square. More about this next week.
We’ve also got quite a few new submissions (and quite a few more for next week) so let us know what you like and what you don’t. Just click below on the “Leave Comment” button and do just that.
In other news, I’m teaming up with Kimmi Rudolph of The Metal Deli to add another show onto my belt and the lipstick case of Insomnia Radio. It’s Insomnia Radio: Chicago and we’re getting all of our stuff together to launch it. We’ll have a mini-episode this week and then full, one-hour podcasted episodes bi-weekly after that. Are you a Chicago artist? Are you a Chicago music lover? C’mon over!
Great stuff this week as Track of the Week goes to the new track from Project called “The Compass” and our video feature is a smashing video from the boys over at The Scratch of their song, “Teen Idol.” We played the song on the show and the video is here on the website.
As for the title of this show… Yeah, I typed it out because I don’t wanna be misheard. It is the future now, and I want to make sure it’s pronounced properly!
(Remember this film which came out in 1984 starring none other than Mr. Jaws himself Roy Schieder? How come we haven’t discovered new life on other planets yet? It seems like it’s about time!)
Well, we have discovered new music! (Great segue… I know…) And we’re gearing up for another great year here at The Justin Wayne Show and at Recharged Radio. We’ll be putting out two podcasts, apart from the regular show that will contain all of the nominees for our Anniversary Awards Show coming up on the 3rd of February, The Birthday Best.
You’ll get to vote, too! We’ll be putting up the ballot for you next week once the nominee podcasts are available to you can listen to all the nominees (the best tracks of the year… about 60 of them) and then pick your favorite to make the Audience Choice Award this year. That will be available next week. Cool, huh?
We think so. I’ve been getting ballots back from our staff here as well (as we have some awards chosen by the staff to give out as well) and it’s looking like it’s going to be an exciting show. Heck, it is the best music of the year!
But we always play good music, don’t we? How about this week’s playlist?
The Justin Wayne Show Episode 74: Number One in Twenty Ten
Jason Ober joins us on the show this week to tell us of his wonderful experience with The Powwows at Uncommon Ground (in fact, you can read about it too in his article just below this one on the site.) There’s another couple of tracks from the Zalinski boys from their new EP, “Actions, Reactions, and Misunderstandings” as well as loads of great music, chat, and the usual fare here at The JW Show.
Playlist? Please.
The Justin Wayne Show Episode 69: Best Friends Forever
We’ll have some great stuff brewed up for next week’s big show number 70 so keep it locked, get your subscription up to date and prime yourselves for a great show next week!
Yeah, it’s Halloween. Creepy stuff is bound to happen, especially on an episode 66!
The Justin Wayne Show indulges in our first Track of the Week (or TOTW as it’s called around the campfire) with a very great track called “Honesty Policy” by a new band to the show, Zalinski. They’ve just recorded their second EP and we’re excited to get our dirty little finger and paws all over it.
Our first video feature, direct from Colin’s Weekly Music Video Podcast is Vitriol by another new band to the show, Bluejuice. These guys are absolutely amazing – so much so they don’t have to take anything seriously. Have a look at their video for this song below.
Brett of Monumental Music Group joins us for a chat in the second half of the show as well as more discussion about Jordan’s alleged beard he’s trying to grow and things like that.
AND, and and… I forgot to mention this on the show but we’ve got a voicemail set up in the US now, thanks to our friends at drop.io (those same friendly folk who provide our FTP dropbox that’s so slick.) It’s just there in the sidebar or dial (within the US or internationally it’s +1) 646-462-4073and extension 15797. Go on, leave us a message and we’ll get it onto the show.
That’s about it, let’s get this playlist out there.
The Justin Wayne Show, Episode 66: The Wrath of Wayne
That’s right, LIVE. Justin Wayne returned to the live streaming broadcast waves this past Wednesday and if you weren’t there, it’s not your fault. I kinda kept it on the DL as I was unsure of how things would pan out having not done a live show in years. But, not to worry, things went pretty darn well as you’ll hear on the show.
New music from the likes of The Little Philistines, Skinless Finger, Icarus the Owl (we discuss their new band name as they used to be “Kill Your Ex”) as well as some classic tracks from Goh Nakamura, Trevor Larkin and tons more.
AND… if you wanna listen and chat LIVE with us next week you can come straight back to http://thejustinwayneshow.com at 8pm GMT (11am Pacific, 12pm Mountain, 1pm Central, 2pm Eastern) and there will be a link that occurs only when we’re live. It’s a big, red button. Just push it.
You can also find this big, red button on http://rechargedradio.com which is the streaming station kind enough to play the show. Cool, eh?
Keep a look out for more David Couch writings including his upcoming column, live reviews… he’s pretty much the bees knees.
Playlist time…
