Alice Rock pile in their equipment into the flat for a rousing (and possibly neighbor disrupting) live session.  They also spoke to us about their origins, how they came to live in London (and then Colchester), the new album, drum sticks, marriage, and their new video for Model QT100 which involved painting shorts green.  I couldn’t make this stuff up if I tried!

A big thanks to Mark Riley for his sterling help on the show – he’s invaluable in just about any situation!  And to my wife Jamie for sorting out dinner for everyone, teas, drinks, and for taking undue abuse from me during the show.  It has been recommended that I be nicer to her on air, and I’ve promised to take it under advisement.

We’re moving the live show to Mondays and podcasts will be released the following Sunday.  Why?  So the magical Mark Riley can join us and we can be in a better slot to promote album releases which usually occur on Tuesdays.

Aside from this change in day of the week, it seems we’ve finally found a happy medium as things since we’ve returned have gone very smoothly.  Both the quality of the shows and the regularity of the podcast posting  has gone well, and we have had great response from all of you.

Make sure you pick up your copy of The L Project’s single, “It Does Get Better” to support LGBT education in schools to fight bullying and youth suicides caused by mis/non education.  It’s a great song for a great cause, and you can hear it again on this week’s show.

David Goo came up to the flat and gave us a good dose of his new album, “World Domination” by playing a few live tracks for us and spinning some tracks off the album.  I pried into his personal life, the reasoning behind a few of his songs, and a look into what it takes to form a DGVB tune from idea to the stage.

An amazingly interesting man, Dave is also very humble and self-analytical – quite possibly the biggest critic of their music.  It shows in their extreme attention to detail and the fun they have once the tunes are crafted and ready.  Also it may explain why their album took so many years to record.

What Billy had to say about Blacklab…

One of the tracks being played today is by a band called Black Lab. This band rocks, and I remember in the late 90′s seeing Paul Durham and his band at a small club where we used to live. It was electrifying and was one of the indie sparks that remains to this day. Regardless of one’s age, artists come along that we connect with. Black Lab/Paul Durham in the late 90′s was a connection like Springsteen in the 70′s and Pearl Jam in the early 90′s was for me. As I fast forward to today’s indie music, that very same search leads to new and great discoveries. The Justin Wayne Show has exposed me to many great artists, and I particularly like the Clintons, Loomis and the Lust, and Titty Bingo. Great indie artists and worth checking out.

Those Handsome Animals

That’s right, more interviews!  With our first co-promoted gig coming up we’ve got Tom from Those Handsome Animals in to chat as they’re playing “Hijacked” at the Enfield Bar Form (just outside the Enfield Town BR station on Friday, 19th of Feb.  It’s free in, 9pm we get the ball rollin’…  We did talk about other music-related things too as not to totally alienate you poor non-Londoners.

We also spoke with the influential Trenton Birch of Trenton and Free Radical who, after many years of being involved in the music industry in different shapes, roles, and places has brought a truly international group together to make some top-notch hip-hop with a message of change.  Don’t worry, he never gets too preachy (in his music or in the interview) but is very humble and we really enjoyed having him on, too.  Wanna see for real how fun he is, we’ve included the video of his first single “Sunless Sundays” below in our video feature for this week.
