What else is cool? The Birthday Best Awards are coming next week, 3rd of February at 8pm GMT (3pm EST, 2pm CST, 1pm MST, 12pm PST)

Track of the Week this week is Recharged Radio Wide! ”Solid State” by Fake Teak is just that good and you should be able to download it for free soon from his Tourdates site at http://tourdates.co.uk/fake-teak.

And we even had a Video feature this week which will show up below the playlist as usual: it’s the “Ocean Passage” stylings from our Projekt mates. The video was shot down by the Thames, literally on the banks of the Thames, which was once an Ocean Passage… get it? In fact, there are probably some people that still consider it as such, although I wouldn’t want to get into a debate with them, so… playlist time!

(We think it's pretty cool.)

What else is cool? The Birthday Best Awards are coming next week, 3rd of February at 8pm GMT (3pm EST, 2pm CST, 1pm MST, 12pm PST)

Track of the Week this week is Recharged Radio Wide! "Solid State" by Fake Teak (http://tourdates.co.uk/fake-teak) is just that good and you should be able to download it for free soon from his Tourdates site at http://tourdates.co.uk/fake-teak (http://tourdates.co.uk/fake-teak).

And we even had a Video feature this week which will show up below the playlist as usual: it's the "Ocean Passage" stylings from our Projekt mates. The video was shot down by the Thames, literally on the banks of the Thames, which was once an Ocean Passage... get it? In fact, there are probably some people that still consider it as such, although I wouldn't want to get into a debate with them, so... playlist time!

There’s some great tracks on this episode and some special ones too.

But… before I get any further I want to thank my new friend Colin and the Ouroboros Podcast. He spent a bunch of time plugging the JW Show on his, so go have a visit with Colin if you’re interested in hearing not only some more great music, but his insights into independent music videos AND all sorts of other geo-political things going on including cycle racing! If you were at the Mongolian Barbecue he’d be a “highly recommended” sauce.

I also want to tell you about one of the special track that we have this week. Coming to us from Perseverance Records is the R&B stylings of The Sales Brothers. This appropriately titled record, Hired Guns, marks the first of the brothers’ own recordings – back in 1978. (“Whoa! That’s like 30 years ago!” Just wait…

These two brothers were one of the most solid rhythm sections (drums and bass) in the industry back in the 70s. Playing with the likes of Iggy Pop, David Bowie, and many more. When it came to be their time they decided to play their true love, R&B. After producing this great record some 30 years ago, on the eve of taking over for the Blues Brothers on Saturday Night Live – a ticket to stardom – Tony had a near fatal car crash and ended up in a coma. Luckliy he survived the coma and recovery, but the tapes from the album ended up in the back of a closet not to be unearthed for 30 years. Until now…

Robin Esterhammer, CEO of Perseverace Records sent me the link to The Sales Brothers amid a few other film soundtracks and as l listened to the great music I read this story. Amazed and moved by both the music and the story I put them on for you. I truly hope you enjoy it and if you get a chance, slide on over to http://www.myspace.com/thesalesbrothers and have a listen for yourself.
One thing – you don’t get the playlist straightaway. If you want to find out who ended up where on the list for this week and next you’ll have to just listen. I will, however, be including each of our co-presenters’ top 5 lists so you can see who was nominated from the nominations. The next few weeks following this monumental show we’ll be playing some of the nominees that didn’t quite make the cut.

I thank quite a few people on the show but let me take this opportunity to thank you, the web listener for coming back time and again to the site to listen to the show. We wouldn’t be where we are and doing as well as we are now without you, so thanks!

Here are the Top 5 lists from our co-presenters. Make sure you subscribe or listen to the show this week to find out who ended up where in the countdown and I’ll be posting the true list in a few weeks.

Jarrod Robinson of Tourdates.co.uk came to the Treehouse this week for a very informative visit. The CEO of Tourdates.co.uk Jarrod promotes gigs, music, videos, music videos and the social network that supports them with his blooming website. <itunes:summary>Jarrod Robinson of Tourdates.co.uk (http://www.tourdates.co.uk/) came to the Treehouse this week for a very informative visit. The CEO of Tourdates.co.uk Jarrod promotes gigs, music, videos, music videos and the social network that supports them with his blooming website. Join us on the show as he spoke to me about their mission, things to come, and what you can expect when you click over to Tourdates.co.uk (http://www.tourdates.co.uk/). AND... it's free, available to anyone out there who needs a spot to post your videos and songs where those who love the music can find you. It's for musicians and music lovers alike! You could even find me on there if you fancy it!

And yes, we're calling our virtual studio the Treehouse because we're no longer on the front porch (we've moved locations twice now since the start of the show) and I feel like the virtual studio should change as we move actual locations. Don't you?

Bobby Scotch returns to feature hip hop on “The Spot”. He ended up spending the whole show with me, so you’ll hear his wonderful voice throughout, alongside my mediocre voice.

And don’t forget to tune in next week. We’ve got a highly anticipated interview with the man, Brother Dan Palmer! I’ve been waiting for this interview since day 1!

I’ve got many stories about the past few months (CRAZY!) and I may have to create a second blog to accommodate all of them. Along with pictures from the wedding, comments, questions… well, it wouldn’t all fit alongside all of this important podcast information. So, if you’re excited to see wedding photos, hear about why I spent almost a month away from you (my faithful listeners), and so many other stories I can’t even begin to summarize… well, you may just have to wait for the branching off of this new blog site.
