5.5 Questions with Edewaard – An Oregon Indie Rock Band...

Aug 6, 2013 by

Edewaard’s “Mr. Niceguy” first crossed our playlist on episode #200. Since we’re practically neighbors, we thought we would find out a little more about these indie rock Oregonians: Tell us about the first time you heard yourself on radio. We were on our way to Boise, ID when we heard ourselves for the first time. Interestingly enough, we were debuted on British radio before the states. So it was pretty surreal to have heard all of our names announced in a British accent. I don’t think we had expected our music to travel over seas so quickly, it was an eye-opener to the technological advantages of our time. Thank you internet! What’s been Edewaard’s coolest day ever? Our best day/night had to be the Burnt Woodstock show we played in Burnt Woods, OR. We...

Interview: The Merchant of Venice – Shakespeare Walla Walla – Opens August 8th...

Aug 4, 2013 by

Shakespeare Walla Walla is bringing a swift, modern version of Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice to Walla Walla’s Power House Theatre. I weaseled my way into a rehearsal and spoke to some of the cast and the director about what they’re up to. They performed a piece of the play for me, which you’ll hear after the interview, and talked about the themes, the adaptation, and the blending of local and imported actors on stage. I am joined by director and co-adaptor Tiger Reel, actor and co-adaptor Jack Young, imported actress Amelia Fischer and local actress Nicole Im. Aug 1, 2013 by

Michael Harren is involved in many musics (no, I’ve not misspelled, I’ve done that on purpose). As a singer/songwriter, actor, band member and music podcaster, “Mikeypod” as he’s known in the podcasting world can just about do it all.  He’s just self-released his first single and is preparing to tour with comedienne Sandra Bernhard, accompanying her on-stage during some of her more musical portions of the show. He joins us today to talk about all of this and more, and as a podcaster and radio personality in his own right we invited him to chat along with us for the whole show. Aug 1, 2013 by

Michael Harren is involved in many musics (no, I’ve not misspelled, I’ve done that on purpose). As a singer/songwriter, actor, band member and music podcaster, “Mikeypod” as he’s known in the podcasting world can just about do it all. And he does, sometimes performing on his own creating soundscapes for stories, creating performances that begin to blur the lines between a gig and a night of theatre. He’s just self-released his first single and is preparing to tour with comedienne Sandra Bernhard, accompanying her on-stage during some of her more musical portions of the show. He’s got lots more to tell us, have a listen! Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 48:47 — 56.1MB)Subscribe: iTunes | Android | RSS...

Live Gig: Discovery 2 with The Meds Collective, Courts, Exhibit L and Danny Toeman...

Jul 19, 2013 by

Another round of full live sets and interviews from the pure quality night we had on Kensington High Street in June. A soulful, summery, electronicly urban vibe was at the AAA for June’s Discovery 2.  Performers this month included The Meds Collective, London soulman Danny Toeman, the funky, hip-hop/indie stylings of Courts, past Discovery performer Laura Jenkins who will be singing songs from her latest project Exhibit L. Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 1:30:00 — 174.2MB)Subscribe: iTunes | Android | RSS We had a bit of recording trouble with The Meds Collective and Courts, so you’ll hear a mixture of live and studio tracks for them. However, all of the interviews got recorded as well as full live sets from Exhibit L and Danny...
