5.5 Questions with Michael Bracewell of Monsters As Humans

Monsters As Humans are Antoni Cole (Vox/Guitar), Dave Kostilek (Bass/Vox), Michael Bracewell (Guitar/Vox) and Jake Sainty (Drums). Currently, they’re writing and recording material for their forthcoming releases later in 2015.

Michael Bracewell stopped by to answer 5.5 questions with TJWS in July. Here’s what he had to say:

What’s the first song you ever remember hearing?

I think the first song I ever heard was Kylie Minogue’s, Locomotion. I remember dancing to it as a kid! I was a cool child

Tell us about the first time you heard yourself on radio.

First proper time I listened when I was about 14, and I heard 57 by Biffy Clyro. I loved it but couldn’t find anything about the band at all!! It started an obsession with the band that I still have for today haha.

What non-instrument sound or sounds do you love? Hmm, this is odd. I kind of love the ambient sounds of busy city areas in a reverberated room of people moving and talking, like a music hall, or museum. The exchange of sounds as they fight in the frequencies for dominance in the air interests me. I sound kind of arty, however I’m not. Just a big lover of science and sound.

What is something you still want to learn in life? Everything that I am currently doing! I want to master it and be comfortable in that area, whether be it music, design, etc.

What’s your favorite kind of sandwich and what would you wash it down with?

I want to put something typical northern and British here like a pork pie sandwich but I would be lying… I love a pizza toastie… cheese,pesto and pepperoni with a good fruity cider… it’s because I’m a classy kindof guy!!

What one song never ever leaves your music player’s playlist?

Currently anything by Arcane Roots or And So I Watch You From A Far personally. In the band, collectively, I imagine it’s, Biffy Clyro, Reuben, Brand New, and Foo Fighters.
