More about the artists

dis2-july14-posterThe Greasy Slicks

They formed in 2012 through a mutual appreciation of traditional and contemporary blues rock and strive to create the songs that don’t sound like anyone else; the results reflect just how unique they are as musicians and songwriters. Evidence of this can be heard on the track ‘Street Queen’ – all seven minutes of it received radio airplay on Tom Robinson’s 6Music Introducing Mix-tape. Their passionate live shows have been described as the soundtrack for “a bourbon-soaked bar brawl” and are where they strive to ensure audiences are captivated by the Slicks energy, commitment and musicianship.

Hawk

London-based HAWK have been described as everything from alt-pop to dark folk. Lead singer Julie Hawk as “a bit of the Bjork side of brilliant bonkers” (Artrocker). She began collaborating with Matt Harris, as a solo project in 2012. After a year of garnering plaudits on the acoustic scene, the band gained support from DJs such as Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson (BBC6Music). The pair joined with Sam and Chris to form HAWK, adding new edge and expansion to their sound, while retaining the detail and delicacy of their acoustic roots. This July they release their 4th release, a new double A side single and video, Antidote // Hush on Veta Records.
