Free Music Feature
Welcome to the Justin Wayne Show’s Free Music Feature blog, written by our own Claire Rozario! She features one new free track each week on the blog that’s hot, sweet and ready for your ears.
If you are currently offering a free song and would like Claire to consider it for her blog, contact her via email: claire (at) thejustinwayneshow (dot) com. Please include:
- A short description of your track and you (band, artist, or dog-and-pony show)
- A link to the site where it’s streamable, embeddable and downloadable – Bandcamp or Soundcloud are good options.
- Reason WHY she should include it.
If you’re a reader – that’s ACE and welcome. Let me know if you find anything that should be on this blog too!
“Superfresh” by Tom Rosenthal is your free music feature today! If you’ve listen to the live show ever I’m sure you would of heard us talk about this guy. He’s one of our favourites, and I think he’ll quickly become yours too.
Tom Rosenthal is a 26 year old singer-songwriter from London. He is a person who writes songs. He write songs and composes things and make things. He’s created two albums and is currently working on his third. He’s currently retired from doing covers, but he’s ended with an absolute smasher, which he’s also posted for free on his Soundcloud page. So if you like this, head there.
“Marchioness” by The Buzzard Orchestral is our superb free music feature.
The Buzzard Orchestral were raised in the sticks in the South West of England. We’ve since embraced the excitement of the urban sprawl but this change has been somewhat jarring. We were forewarned of the perils of city life but nothing could have prepared us for this. Our debut album is an account of a young man dive-bombing into the colourful suburbs of London. He made quite a splash!
“Lake Alaska (piano version)” by Alex Hulme is our free music feature of the week! We’ve been a fan of this guy for years now. We hope you are too.
It’s been a good year for Garstang born, Liverpool based, Alex. Having just graduated from LIPA where he played for Sir Paul McCartney and Billy Ocean as well as supporting a wealth of artists including Willy Mason, Willis Earl Beal and Emmy the Great, 2013 certainly seems like the start of something good for this pop/folk, singer/songwriter. Coming from the small town of Garstang in rural North Lancashire Alex set out to play at every available venue, pub, open mic night and street corner he could. It wasn’t long before people started to take
notice and Alex released three home recorded EP’s with the help of Manchester indie label Cityscape Records.
“Letter” by Devin Leslie is yours for the taking! After playing his single ‘Autumn Wind’ on the live show we are delighted to have more to add to our musical library!
Devin Leslie was born on the south side of Indianapolis in 1993. He began playing and conceptualizing music from a young age and has now written several hundred songs. He released his debut project, “Widescreen,” in October 2014. Widescreen is an unprecedented mixtape that touched on various genres which are traditionally considered to be mutually exclusive. In March 2015, just three months after “Widescreen,” Devin Leslie debuted his first album, titled “Indianapolis.”
‘Friday Morning’ by Rocket Van is our feature of the week! We just got sent material from these guys and as a new fan I’m excited to see this available for free! The song is about the morning after a night out, in Switzerland they call it “un jeudredi” meaning a contraction of jeudi and vendredi (Thursday and Friday).
Rocket Van are from Neuchâtel, Switzerland. They are producing great British Swiss Indie Alternative Rock. The band is made up of Alexandre, Ben, Kaïs and Tim.
“Performing Fleas” by Zvilnik is here for your listening pleasure. This is very special free feature, as today you aren’t just getting a song, you’re getting a whole EP!
A rock band at their core, Zvilnik draw in influences from eastern Europe, cabaret and low grade horror movies to create a sound like no other. This sinister yet welcoming five-piece are plotting to pull you into their web of deceit with complex knots of guitar strangeness, stomping bass and beefy beats. All this compounded by vocal performances straight out of a murderous alternate Broadway. Expect weird science, unnecessary surgery, robots, dinosaurs, and more in a Zvilnik show.
“Won’t You Sleep” by The Ramisco Maki Maki Rocking Horse can be yours today! This is one of many fun, unique tracks from the guy behind the horse, who has come to be a friend to the show.
The Ramisco Maki Maki Rocking Horse is an alternative indie folk artist from the Scottish Highlands. While primarily a solo artist, he also performs with a backing band called The Wat Wat Kings. Previous to becoming The Horse, Ray McCartney was a founding member, songwriter, performer and producer of The Kazoo Funk Orchestra. He performed as Little Beard before leaving the collective for brain surgery only weeks after recording a performance for BBC Alba’s RAPAL TV show late 2008. Ray was also the founding member / songwriter and frontman of El Jugador until the band split in 2005.
“Orphans and B-Sides” by Skittish is our excellent free feature as this week! Other than being brilliant, what make’s it even better is that you’re not just getting 1 song, you’re getting an entire EP!
Skittish calls Minnesota home, and through all the national tours, SXSW successes, CMJ charting albums, and nation-wide exposure, there has been one permanent member of Skittish: Jeff Noller. Minnesota born and bred, and sprung from the same hometown as Garrison Keillor, Noller crafts songs that are at times folky, rough, weird, and bitingly sarcastic. All with literary flair and more
hooks than a tackle box. He has written and recorded all Skittish albums in a hand-built lean-to of a studio in St Paul, Minnesota.
“Rewind and Retake” by Julia And The Basement Tapes is our free music feature of the week! This track is taken off the bands new EP ‘The Dues’ which they’ve kindly posted in it’s entirety on their Soundcloud page. We’ve been lovely the tunes off it on the live show, and now you can too!
Julia And The Basement Tapes were formed in the end of 2012 when Julia Tinglöf (vocal) and Johan Borgh (guitar) had been writing songs together for a while and decided it was time to start a band. The best rhythm section available was contacted, consisting of Samuel Söderberg on bass and Johannes Sidenqvist on drums. The newly formed band participated in the band contest Spinnrocken, which they won. Shortly after that they recorded their EP “The Basement Sessions” with the help of producer Andreas Rydman. The first EP was released in the end of May 2013. Short after Richard Hamilton playing the keys joined in with the band.
“Wolves” by Strange Waves is your free music feature this Friday! This band have had great success with Image their first submission to the show, winning the Top 10 of October 2015 and then taking home the gold in our year-end December Top 10 + 1! So we are delighted to have more to share with you…
Strange Waves is a high energy rock n’ roll band from Florence, Alabama. Band Members: Evan Sandy, Joseph Whitehead, Jeremy Couch, Jackson Gillreath.
