5.5 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Devin Leslie

Aug 20, 2015 by

Devin Leslie comes to TJWS via Indianapolis. He sent us his song Money Killed Everything and then he answered 5.5 questions. Here’s what Devin had to say:

What’s the first song you ever remember hearing?

The first song I ever remember hearing is Moonshadow by Cat Stevens. This is when I was probably 3 or 4 years old.

Tell us about the first time you heard yourself on radio.

Actually the first time I heard myself on any radio was today! I’ve been played on another station called XRP Radio, but I wasn’t available to tune in.

What non-instrument sound or sounds do you love?

I love the sound of traffic because it’s familiar. I grew up in a suburban area where there was always the rush of US-31 set outside on a low volume in your ears. I also love the sound of the ocean…that’s probably my favorite. The ocean washing up on Deauville Beach in New Jersey. I also love the sound of a woman’s voice.

What is something you still want to learn in life?

I still want to learn everything. There are a few instruments I wouldn’t mind picking up more seriously like the pedal steel, and stuff like that. I’m definitely trying to get more into “beat” making and understanding software like Ableton and FL Studio and ProTools better.

What’s your favorite kind of sandwich and what would you wash it down with?

My favorite kind of sandwich is probably a Ruben Sandwich at a kosher deli in Indy called Shapiro’s. I’ve been trying to live a more vegan lifestyle lately and Scotty’s Brewhouse has  a great black bean burger.

What one song never ever leaves your music player’s playlist?

Cross the Green Mountain by Bob Dylan
