Submit Music

Want to submit your music to the Justin Wayne Show?  Great!

Hard working, unsigned, and independent music is always welcome here. We exist to promote independent music and we’re always excited to expand our music library.  We are also committed to helping promote each one of the bands that we play.

We want to make this submitting progress easy, so if you have questions just email us submit (at) thejustinwayneshow.com and we’ll talk.  However, we do not play everything that is submitted and delete things that haven’t been submitted properly, so please read the instructions below.

We’re also on Twitter @justinwayneshow and Facebook /thejustinwayneshow, so you can like, follow, comment, or whatever else people do with social media these days.

Step 1:  Check Yourself.

Before you submit music to the show…

  • First and foremost: Listen to a show. We’re pretty eclectic in our music but see if you’d like to be played on the show and if it’ll fit. Also, will it benefit you? If so…
  • Make sure it’s an MP3!  (Please DO NOT send WMA, AIFFs, and WAVs have places in the world, but not here.)
  • Check that your MP3 file’s ID3 tags are updated with the following information: What’s an ID3 tag? How do I edit ID3 tags?
    • Artist name
    • Song name
    • Album name
  • Tracks must be at least 128kpbs or higher.
  • Attach the songs to the email you send.  If you send a download link, still include two mp3s attached to the email. 
  • Send ONLY your two favorite songs in the first instance. Don’t submit the whole album unless we have asked for it.
  • WARNING: If you send me anything with a Mediafire link you will be sternly spoken to.  I’ve got computer viruses from that site.

Step 2:  Making it Legal

One more thing, let’s make it legal – give us permission to play the music.  Here’s step-by-step instructions so we can PLAY your music on the show:

  1. Email us at submit (at) thejustinwayneshow.com with the two tracks attached to the email.   Also say “hi” – it makes us feel loved.
  2. Two Legal Important Things:  You MUST…
    1. Confirm that you are the sole copyright owner of the music you’re submitting.
    2. Grant The Justin Wayne Show written permission to play your music on the show. You can be all legal n’stuff, or you can say something like, “It would be awesome if you played our music on your show!”
    3. Acknowledge you understand that we DO NOT have a PRS/ASCAP/SOUNDSCAN license, and that you give us permission to play the music anyway.  These organizations do not support independent music the way they should, and most of the license fees still go to major label artists.  If this is a problem for you, please don’t submit.  When they sort themselves out, we’ll be first in the queue.
  3. In addition, in your email please let us know if we can play your stuff on the following TJWS affiliate programs, shows I contribute to, places where TJWS is played, etc…
    1. AMPed – The Association of Music Podcasting’s Weekly Show
    2. Made in the UK – The Best Podsafe Music from the UK… For the World

Step 3: What do YOU Want?

Let us know if you’re interested in…

  1. Being interviewed
  2. Submitting for the Free Music Feature (include the embed code for your free music widget.  Bandcamp, Noisetrade, Soundcloud…)
  3. Having your album reviewed
  4. Having a song on our monthly free promo EP.

If you like, you can copy and paste this replacing and add your information where appropriate… but you’d better add something personal so it doesn’t LOOK like a plagiarized, junior-high ‘copy and paste’ English paper. ;)
