I even like it when he’s really rude
To people who deserve it
(…Church choir robes, disco lights and strobes)”
-from “Thrift Store” by The Barmitzvah Brothers

Quote of the week from one of the three bands included in the interesting and enjoyable trifecta of groups who the Artists of the Week are involved. Jenny Mitchell, also known as Jenny Omnichord wrote this song for her father where she is employed while not on the road AND the same place where she found the instrument of her namesake, the omnichord. Sharing her talents not only with her band The Barmitzvah Brothers but also on a solo project where she goes by her cleaver stage name Jenny Omnichord and with her band-mate Mathias Kom’s other project The Burning Hell. This band brings Kom’s dark vocal voice and humor to the front, creating a different but equally enjoyable sound. This group of funny, interesting, and brilliant songwriters was impossible to play as just one group, and so we’ve given each of their projects a thorough listen and they’re all played in the feature segment of the show this week.

They’re starting out on tour through central and western Canada on March 5th and not stopping until sometime in June. Accompanying this trip is another project of Jenny Mitchell’s (if she didn’t have enough on her place already) which is a journal/book entitled Jenny’s Cross Canada Haircut Book. For just 2 dollars (in Canadian, I assume) you get a prime haircut from the self-taught barber that Jenny is, and she gets a before-and-after picture, talks to you and adds your pictures and your story to her book. How cool is that? If you’re interested in letting Jenny know how cool it is, here’s her email address: agatharead@hotmail.com. Tell her you heard about it on the Justin Wayne Show.

Montana friends… They’re going to be in Lethbridge on March 30th! (For those of you non-Montanans, Lethbridge is the Canadian border town where all the 19 year-olds go to buy and drink alcohol. Kind of like Montana’s version of Tijuana except Montana’s MORE frightening than Lethbridge. It’s Canada!)

If you’re somewhere else and are interested in catching some great music and a great 2 dollar haircut, here’s the rest of that contact information.

Jenny Omnichord: www.myspace.com/jennyomnichord
The Burning Hell: www.myspace.com/mathiaskom
The Barmitzvah Brothers: www.thebarmitzvahbrothers.com

Also on the show this week is my co-host from FM 99 The Mountain in Red Lodge, Montana, member of the Dawn Patrol, Bill Buckner! We had fun with it this week.

Ryan in the Ring is back again and Ryan’s promised to hate loving Star Trek every week now. If you’ve got questions, comments or anything like that email him at nimoysucks@gmail.com. He’s ready to tear up that fantastic sci-fi “cannon”.

Of course, I got a little carried away with that Band of the Week because you can’t just think stuff up that’s THAT funny and cool to write about in a blog. It’s nice to let someone else provide the humor this week, especially such an interesting group of music-makers!

My humor has about run out right now as I’m heading back to the States tomorrow and leaving Jamie behind. It will only be until my work permit and work visa get worked out, but it saddens me to leave her here in a big city all by herself. She does have our caring flatmates and the best Staffordshire Terrier there ever was to take care of her, but I’ll be back home.

If you happen to be in the Minneapolis greater metro area and you’re looking to get your carpet cleaned, I believe I’ll be moonlighting as a carpet cleaning technician with Arndt Carpet Care when I’m there. It’s my Dad’s carpet cleaning business, and you can find us on the web (I made the site!) at: www.arndtcarpetcare.com.

Any shows I should check out while I’m home? Band, let me know when you’re playing and I can meet some of you face-to-face instead of myspace profile-to-myspace profile.

The next episode of the show should come off as scheduled, so don’t worry about that. We’ll just be broadcasting from my teenage room where all of my cool band posters, old trophies, and weird collectibles are still on the wall. It’s kind of like my sarcophagus but I’ve already risen from the dead. Creepy, now that I say that…

Alright, here’s the playlist. Take care. Special thanks to the Independent Online Distribution Alliance (IODA) for helping provide some of the music. Independent musicians and artists, check into this program for putting your stuff on the web for people to buy and download. They do a very nice job of prepping the music for us podcasters, so they’re doing something right over there. Also, thanks to the other artists who graciously provided their music for show. I do appreciate it.

For just 2 dollars (in Canadian, I assume) you get a prime haircut from the self-taught barber that Jenny is, and she gets a before-and-after picture, talks to you and adds your pictures and your story to her book. How cool is that? If you're interested in letting Jenny know how cool it is, here's her email address: agatharead@hotmail.com. Tell her you heard about it on the Justin Wayne Show.

Montana friends... They're going to be in Lethbridge on March 30th! (For those of you non-Montanans, Lethbridge is the Canadian border town where all the 19 year-olds go to buy and drink alcohol. Kind of like Montana's version of Tijuana except Montana's MORE frightening than Lethbridge. It's Canada!)

If you're somewhere else and are interested in catching some great music and a great 2 dollar haircut, here's the rest of that contact information.

The Burning Hell: www.myspace.com/mathiaskom (http://www.myspace.com/mathiaskom)

Also on the show this week is my co-host from FM 99 The Mountain in Red Lodge, Montana, member of the Dawn Patrol, Bill Buckner! We had fun with it this week.

Ryan in the Ring is back again and Ryan's promised to hate loving Star Trek every week now. If you've got questions, comments or anything like that email him at nimoysucks@gmail.com (mailto:nimoysucks@gmail.com). He's ready to tear up that fantastic sci-fi "cannon".

Of course, I got a little carried away with that Band of the Week because you can't just think stuff up that's THAT funny and cool to write about in a blog. It's nice to let someone else provide the humor this week, especially such an interesting group of music-makers!

My humor has about run out right now as I'm heading back to the States tomorrow and leaving Jamie behind. It will only be until my work permit and work visa get worked out, but it saddens me to leave her here in a big city all by herself. She does have our caring flatmates and the best Staffordshire Terrier there ever was to take care of her, but I'll be back home.

If you happen to be in the Minneapolis greater metro area and you're looking to get your carpet cleaned, I believe I'll be moonlighting as a carpet cleaning technician with Arndt Carpet Care when I'm there. It's my Dad's carpet cleaning business, and you can find us on the web (I made the site!</itunes:summary>

-Robots and Butterflies, “No Shows in April” from The Library EP

Yes, a great song quote from the Band of the Week. Robots and Butterflies hails from South Florida and as a strong four-piece pop/punk outfit show quite a bit of promise in their energy and their songwriting. There’s two songs in the show this week or head on over to www.myspace.com/robotsandbutterflies to get more info including ways to buy their EP “The Library”.

If you’re looking for a story blog, here’s the most recent, My Disgusting American Habit, or just scroll on down. If you’re looking for a story blog OR a JW Show playlist that’s older than a month, look in the sidebar under the Blog Archive and click on a previous month.

As for the Podcast there are now MANY subscription and listening solutions here in the sidebar, from the popular “Click here, It’s Easy” link to the brand new widget where you listen right in this window OR scroll all the way down and at the bottom of the sidebar you can download any specific show you want. That’s great for bands that have been Band of the Week or interviewed that want to link to a specific show. If you have any specific linking questions or you’d like me to build some HTML for your Myspace page or anything of that nature, email me! (Also in the sidebar.)

If you head to my Myspace page at www.myspace.com/justinwarndt you’ll find HTML code under my cool new Myspace banner so you, too can have a JW Show banner on your Myspace site (or heck, even your proper webpage!). When you add the banner, let me know so I can come by and take a look!

Ryan in the Ring

As we’ve all come to love and laugh at the sci-fi comedy stylings of Ryan in “Ryan in the Ring” he’s finally agreed to do one every week. I’ve added his email in the sidebar too, nimoysucks@gmail.com. If you have any questions, comments, or wish to contribute to that segment send the comments his way. If I were you I’d battle him right back with some good comments. Heck, if you post comments about it here or send them to me, I’ll be happy to send them along to him.

Time for the playlist. A special thanks this week (and every week) going out to John Williams who has generously lent his music to the imaging of the show. He’s got a great recording setup at his studio so if you’re an artist or a band in the Seattle area, you should look him up. Here, I’ll help you: www.johnwms.com. Thanks, John!

I’m very excited.

Today marks the beginning of the JW Show going to podcast. This means new, excellent music and myself filling in all the cracks and the details. I do this because I love to listen to music, present on the radio, and share music with my friends – so that’s what you get when you download the podcast. It’s me, my good friend Ryan, some tunes, and a few other segments we’ve cooked up to bring together the music.

A special thanks to Michael back at Bridger Bowl who did the real work on the image. You can see it on the blog now in the upper left. Cheers, Michael!

Here’s a link to the first show (it’s also in the sidebar): The JW Show Ep. 1

Here’s the link to subscribe to the JW Show with your RSS reader (copy and paste into the “subscribe” feature on your podcatcher, which could be iTunes under “advanced” and then “subscribe to podcast”): http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheJustinWayneShow

I’ll have a link directly to iTunes next week that will open your iTunes program and subscribe you automatically. AND… I’ll include a link next that will update automatically so if you want to post a link directly to the sound file on your site that’s always current, you’ll be able to do that.

From now on, at the bottom of each posting which accompanies a podcast there will be a listing of the artists and how to find them on the web. As I only play one or two songs of each artist SOOO… Hit the blog and find their info, track down the CDs via download or mail, and make sure to tell them you heard them on the JW Show.

You’ll also see these two sites in the sidebar from now on: magnatune.com and podsafeaudio.com. These two sites I’ve found quite a bit of great music from and they both have schemes where you (the non-podcaster… or podcasters alike!) and cheaply purchase songs and albums from these independent artists. Tell them I sent you.

Question I’ve been getting (once from my mother):

“Are you going to advertise and make money on this podcast?”

The answer:

NO!

The next question would beg, “Why?” My answer to that is that I do this for the love of the music and to help these guys out that are trying to make it without the huge helping hand of a major label (thus far…). My goal, nay, my dream is to snowball this podcast to attract more and more independent artists and soon I’ll have a library expansive enough to rival any major radio station – but all independent music.

The other half of that dream is to build a listener base that this music BECOMES THEIR “POPULAR” MUSIC. Once they turn off the radio and listen to a few podcasts they’ll realise that the big labels and the corporate radio is missing a huge market of fantastic music that us podcasters are picking up and running with. I hope you come running with me.

Now, if you graduated from 4th grade (or grammar school, here in the UK) you’ll observe the 5 Ws (and 1 H). I’ve covered a few already but let’s review and see where I’ve missed.

Who: Me and my boy Ryan Flynn (and Mom, Dad, and Jamie in their respective segments)
What: The Justin Wayne Show Podcast – for free
Where: Me = London, You = the world… iTunes, other podcast outlets, and right here
When: Every Sunday/Monday depending on your timezone
Why: The love of music and the respect for the independent musician/artist
How: My work permit

…How’s that?

As I have a work permit that will only allow me to work at one job, I have been no longer to moonlight (for pay) as a Radio DJ. I’ve done that now for the past 5 years and I truly love it. I love it so much that the only way (after testing the internet radio waters) to do it right in my current situation unable to draw a paycheck from it is to podcast.

That led me to independent musicians. Those who have the good stuff but still own the rights to their own music I can play. E-mail me and sound off if you would like to be a part. My e-mail link is in the sidebar or it’s here: justin.arndt@gmail.com.

I get their permission, and I play their music. It’s that simple. Only there’s one 75 minute show per week (perfect size for any mp3 player or even burned to a CD). I’ve got lots of tunes in store, so keep coming back for more! Let me know what you like so I know what to play again and what kind of music to look out for.

I appreciate all your support and love. I truly do. Thank you for supporting me and the podcast. Let me know what you think, my email is in the sidebar right at the top.

 <itunes:summary>I'm very excited.

Today marks the beginning of the JW Show going to podcast. This means new, excellent music and myself filling in all the cracks and the details. I do this because I love to listen to music, present on the radio, and share music with my friends - so that's what you get when you download the podcast. It's me, my good friend Ryan, some tunes, and a few other segments we've cooked up to bring together the music.

A special thanks to Michael back at Bridger Bowl who did the real work on the image. You can see it on the blog now in the upper left. Cheers, Michael!

Here's a link to the first show (it's also in the sidebar): The JW Show Ep. 1 (http://www.arndtcarpetcare.com/justinwarndt/mp3/jw290108.mp3)

Here's the link to subscribe to the JW Show with your RSS reader (copy and paste into the "subscribe" feature on your podcatcher, which could be iTunes under "advanced" and then "subscribe to podcast"): http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheJustinWayneShow (http://feeds.feedburner.com/TheJustinWayneShow)

I'll have a link directly to iTunes next week that will open your iTunes program and subscribe you automatically. AND... I'll include a link next that will update automatically so if you want to post a link directly to the sound file on your site that's always current, you'll be able to do that.

From now on, at the bottom of each posting which accompanies a podcast there will be a listing of the artists and how to find them on the web. As I only play one or two songs of each artist SOOO... Hit the blog and find their info, track down the CDs via download or mail, and make sure to tell them you heard them on the JW Show.

You'll also see these two sites in the sidebar from now on: magnatune.com (http://www.magnatune.com/) and podsafeaudio.com (http://www.podsafeaudio.com/). These two sites I've found quite a bit of great music from and they both have schemes where you (the non-podcaster... or podcasters alike!) and cheaply purchase songs and albums from these independent artists. Tell them I sent you.

Question I've been getting (once from my mother):

"Are you going to advertise and make money on this podcast?"

The answer:

NO!

The next question would beg, "Why?" My answer to that is that I do this for the love of the music and to help these guys out that are trying to make it without the huge helping hand of a major label (thus far...). My goal, nay, my dream is to snowball this podcast to attract more and more independent artists and soon I'll have a library expansive enough to rival any major radio station - but all independent music.

The other half of that dream is to build a listener base that this music BECOMES THEIR "POPULAR" MUSIC. Once they turn off the radio and listen to a few podcasts they'll realise that the big labels and the corporate radio is missing a huge market of fantastic music that us podcasters are picking up and running with. I hope you come running with me.

Now, if you graduated from 4th grade (or grammar school, here in the UK) you'll observe the 5 Ws (and 1 H). I've covered a few already but let's review and see where I've missed.

Who: Me and my boy Ryan Flynn (and Mom, Dad, and Jamie in their respective segments)
What: The Justin Wayne Show Podcast - for free
Where: Me = London, You = the world... iTunes, other podcast outlets, and right here
When: Every Sunday/Monday depending on your timezone
Why: The love of music and the respect for the independent musician/artist
How: My work permit

...How's that?

As I have a work permit that will only allow me to work at one job, I have been no longer to moonlight (for pay) as a Radio DJ. I've done that now for the past 5 years and I truly love it. I love it so much that the only way (after testing the internet radio waters) to do it right in my current situation unable to draw a paycheck from it is to podcast.

That led me to independent musicians.</itunes:summary>
