Episode 79: Handsome Animals and Free Radicals

Those Handsome Animals

That’s right, more interviews!  With our first co-promoted gig coming up we’ve got Tom from Those Handsome Animals in to chat as they’re playing “Hijacked” at the Enfield Bar Form (just outside the Enfield Town BR station on Friday, 19th of Feb.  It’s free in, 9pm we get the ball rollin’…  We did talk about other music-related things too as not to totally alienate you poor non-Londoners.

We also spoke with the influential Trenton Birch of Trenton and Free Radical who, after many years of being involved in the music industry in different shapes, roles, and places has brought a truly international group together to make some top-notch hip-hop with a message of change.  Don’t worry, he never gets too preachy (in his music or in the interview) but is very humble and we really enjoyed having him on, too.  Wanna see for real how fun he is, we’ve included the video of his first single “Sunless Sundays” below in our video feature for this week.

Trenton and Free Radical

We’ve also got some great new submissions including a few from the Recharged Radio Head of Music, Alex.  Thanks, mate!

And, it’s my duty to announce that we’re going to be hearing more from Peter and his independent music crowd down in Perth, Australia (Scudley Records) in the form of the Scudley Sessions.  Some live performances along with interviews.  More on this in the coming weeks.

What else we got?  How about the playlist?

Episode 68: Actions, Reactions and Misunderstandings

zalinski-arm1Kerpow!  This new EP from Zalinski is crammed full of thick, jam-based, guitar rock that (if you fancy a good rock n’ roll tune) you’re gonna really enjoy.  We’ve got the band on the show (in their car, actually) chatting to us about how they came together, the way they write, and where this new EP is taking them.  What’s it called?  Actions, Reactions, and Misunderstandings.  We obviously liked it so much we named the episode after it.

This week we were notified that The Justin Wayne Show has been nominated for a European Podcast Award which was EXCELLENT news!  Care to donate thirty seconds (not money!) of your time for the cause?  Head over and vote!

Vote for The Justin Wayne Show at the European Podcast Awards Site

We have also got some more fresh sonic deliciousness from Black Bikini Alpha, The Powwows, and another new track from our boys at Junebug.

For the rest… the playlist.

Episode 67: Cliches, EPs and Bikinis

Black Bikini Alpha

Black Bikini Alpha

With an interview with Phil of Modern Cliches, another Track of the Week, a review, and launching the new voicemail (it’s a US number, so +1, then 646-462-4073 and extension 15797) to we’ve got quite the packed show this week!

First, Phil joins us for a chat about the upcoming Modern Cliches double A side, about upcoming gigs and other things.

The Track of the Week comes to us from our new friends over at Futureproof Records and Promotions.  They’re called Black Bikini Alpha and their newest single, “Nightmare” drops at the end of the month (the 29th of November.)

We’ve also got “Soar”, a pre-release track from the upcoming Zalinski EP release called Actions, Reactions and Misunderstandings.  It’s quite good, and we’re gonna have them on the show for an interview next week so make sure you come back.

Speaking of coming back… come and participate on the live show!  I’ve put nifty “figure-out-the-showtime-in-my-timezone” link on the website, or if you’re time zone savvy just come to The Justin Wayne Show dot com or Recharged Radio dot com at 8pm GMT.  (It’s 3pm Eastern, 2pm Central, 1pm Mountain, 12pm Pacific for you Americans). If you’re a band, it’s a GREAT way to get your stuff played as you can talk to me via the chatroom and I’d be a fool not to play your stuff if your chatting in the chatroom.  It’d seem pretty rude, wouldn’t it?  So, by that it’s also a great way to chat with the artists that get played on the show.  Kind of like a forum?  (Don’t tell Jordan I said that.)

That’s about it this week.  Here’s what you came for…

Have a great week!

Episode 66: The Wrath of Wayne

Zalinski

Zalinski

Yeah, it’s Halloween.  Creepy stuff is bound to happen, especially on an episode 66!

The Justin Wayne Show indulges in our first Track of the Week (or TOTW as it’s called around the campfire) with a very great track called “Honesty Policy” by a new band to the show, Zalinski.  They’ve just recorded their second EP and we’re excited to get our dirty little finger and paws all over it.

Our first video feature, direct from Colin’s Weekly Music Video Podcast is Vitriol by another new band to the show, Bluejuice.  These guys are absolutely amazing – so much so they don’t have to take anything seriously.  Have a look at their video for this song below.

Brett of Monumental Music Group joins us for a chat in the second half of the show as well as more discussion about Jordan’s alleged beard he’s trying to grow and things like that.

AND, and and… I forgot to mention this on the show but we’ve got a voicemail set up in the US now, thanks to our friends at drop.io (those same friendly folk who provide our FTP dropbox that’s so slick.)  It’s just there in the sidebar or dial (within the US or internationally it’s +1) 646-462-4073 and extension 15797.  Go on, leave us a message and we’ll get it onto the show.

That’s about it, let’s get this playlist out there.
