Justin's First Appearance on Made in the UK

That’s right!  Somehow, the Brits decided they wanted a bit of US influence on their show and it just so happened they had one living in London doing a music show.  It’s a great podcast and I highly recommend that you cruise over and check it out if you’re looking for more UK artists to add to your independent music collection!

Twenty Ten. Full-stop.

That’s right, it’s friggin’ “TWENTY-TEN”.  I’ll have none of this “two-thousand and ten” business.  Not while I’m around and have a keyboard to tippy-tap on!

I hope you all had a great holiday!  I spent loads of time with my family, friends, and even got in some good face time with something called “Modern Warfare.”  One thing – how can it be not ridiculously cheap and lame to shoot someone in a first-person shooter with a bloody harrier jet?  WTF?  Some people’s kids.  I remember a top-down internet shooter “Subspace” where there was never anything cheap going on… ummm… maybe not.

We had loads of snow!  Come visit me on Facebook to see some of our pictures, even one where it was so cold outside (nearly -20 Celsius) that we had to wear stocking hats in the hot tub!  (Someone asked why we were even in the hot tub at that temperature… I just laughed and walked away.)

The wife and I even got to kick it in Chi-town (that’s Chicago, Illinois for you UK peeps) with my newly engaged buddy Jason (also of JW Show web copyrighting fame) and even met the bride-to-be!  We were very impressed, and they took us for drinks atop the John Hancock tower.  95th Floor y’all!

However, I did next-to-nothing with the show during the holidays but over the past week since we’ve been back (got back on the 3rd of January to more snow here in London) I’ve been working my tail off.  Along with David Couch and the rest of us here at the Show we’re going to make sure you’ve got a brilliant anniversary show coming up the first week of February.  Can you believe that we’ve been around for two years now?

That’s right, our anniversary awards show The Justin Wayne Show Birthday Best is coming up on the 3rd of February and we’ve got loads of great  music to feature both in the nomination podcasts and in the big show on the 3rd.  We’ll be playing bits and pieces but also putting out two podcasts dedicated to the nominations.  Keep your eyes here for more.  They’re probably going to be the best music podcasts ever.  EVERRRRRRrrrrrr.

I suppose that’s it for me for the moment!  Back to producing those aforementioned best podcasts ever…

Cheers,

~JW

Surface Unsigned: Postmortem

Hey y’all

As you may or may not be aware, (you are now!) tonight is the beginning of a new era of the Justin Wayne Show as we’ll be streaming for our first time up on the illustrious Recharged Radio (http://rechargedradio.com).  Do come over and visit as we’ve got more tunes from the Surface Unsigned National Showcase including the announcement of the winner (if you’re not already in the know) as well loads of other great tracks including one of my favs from Sierra Alpha, who were third place in the Surface Unsigned National Showcase last year.

This is to say to the bands that didn’t get through: don’t quit.  These competitions are decided on the day, and your careers will be decided over the span of LOTS longer than that.  Stick with it, make friends, grow your community and you’ll be bigger than the winners of any competition.  There were bands at this show with better music but less fans which seemed to be the deal breaker.  This is a lesson to be learned – your community is the most important thing to your band.  Even if you have absolutely GREAT songs, it’s not going to mean much if there’s no one turning up at your gigs – especially if you can’t get your core audience out to a National Showcase that you’re worked so hard to get to.

Ok, down off the soapbox.  I won’t go on like that tonight too much, I promise.

You’ll also see a “Listen Now” button on the site this afternoon so if you click on that during the 8pm – 10pm GMT time you’ll be listening to the stream.  Enjoy!  Comments to the chatroom or email me at justin@rechargedradio.com

(Yes, thejustinwayneshow@gmail.com still works, it all goes to the same place.  Just like your Mom used to say when your gravy got mixed in with your peas on your plate.)

See you tonight!

Cheers,

~JW

Justin Wayne a Judge at Surface Unsigned Regional Finals

That’s right!  Yours truly wormed his way into the judging booth at the Surface Unsigned Festival (I waited until this morning to post as I didn’t want to get canvassed!)  Joining Brett Leboff of Monumental Management, a London record producer Al Avante, and Major-G Records founder Gordan Rintoul, I’ll be there with my critiquing pen and cup ‘o joe.  11:30am doors open at the Dome in Tufnell Park, come down and say “hello” and let the canvasing begin!

I’m sure I’ll be coming back with loads of new music for the show.  After all, it’s the regional finals and these bands have been in the competition for almost 6 months now.  Take care, see you there!
